Strength and conditioning 15:00 [0]

Knee was a bit sore this morning, so doing core and glutes exercises to try to activate muscles

Trail/terrain running long 2:08:00 intensity: (11:00 @1) + (56:00 @2) + (59:00 @3) + (2:00 @4) 22.5 km (5:41 / km) +700m 4:55 / km

Tough run out from home round the 'Blairdenon horseshoe'. Mostly in terrain.

Really warm and windy - lost 2.5kg between waking up and weigh in after the run despite breakfast!

Knee was fine. Nice route, but pretty tough in the long summer grass.

Orienteering 1 [3]

Last day - chasing start. Probably the worst map, but nice terrain again and course was ok. Vegetation seemed almost totally random - all the bushes in the open areas had been cleared and various shades of green/stripes told you nothing about what to expect. Hating the mapping of the deep ravines too - no way to see how deep/crossable they were - just had to gamble!
Also my worst performance - knee almost 100% - seem to have run off the injury - but the rest of my body was feeling horrible. Loads of wobbles and hesitations, and despite my big lead i was convinced Aron was going to catch me. He didn't.

Really fun week, and the sun even came out today.

Orienteering 1 [3]

Middle distance. Map clearly done at 7500 for older runners then shrunk making it quite hard to read. Nice area, good course except for the 'tricky' controls on cliffs in a slope covered in similar looking cliffs. Constant rain and even some low fog making it a bit like night orienteering. Knee wasn't complaining as much today, and not painful walking at all - stretching and tennis balling clearly working.

Orienteering 1 [1]

'extended short distance' today, but they clearly meant a long sprint, with most of it in very steep spur/gulley beech forest. Would have been great, but for three days of rain beforehand turning the slopes into mud slides!

Knee really suffering today, might have to man up for last 2 days then get it sorted, and maybe even jon the FVO crew for some cycling next week...

Note

Classic distance today, so obviously 20 mins shorter than yesterday (although 2km longer - mostly due to the swiss style run through the town to arena finish)

Nice forest, but course was a little bit simple for large sections.

Knee really seized up in the afternoon evening - painful walking around even
