Trossachs long distance - what went wrong? The obvious answer is that I made some bad route choices, and also did some stupid mistakes which in total cost more than 6 minutes - really pretty unacceptable. Beyond that, I felt like I was pushing hard but not going anywhere, my legs where tired from the start and I felt pretty flat. Perhaps I need to remember that my goal is in August and not now, and that my 54 hours training in March, mostly in the gym and terrain, were perhaps not ideal preparation for this race. Maybe a 2 day taper with my current training program is not enough to get my legs into top shape, and that the ability is there. It is still a bitter pill to swallow, this has been my worst domestic set of races for a good few years both physically and technically - got to keep the eyes on the prize though, and it was really good to see the performances of Scott, Doug Tullie and especially JD back in action.

Touch Estate middle distance - first test race.
Felt ok in the warm up, but quads were burning throughout. Was running fast, but always felt like hard work. Really scrappy, maybe pushing too hard, but making loads of small misses - 10 to 20 seconds.
Really nice forest though and cool race, bit disappointed with the performance, not the end of the world but not what I wanted.
