Note
In honor of Christmas, I'll offer my two cents as to what the holidays mean to me.
I'm sure some of you have noticed my "ritual" before cross country meets. To remind myself of why I am here, why I am on earth, I reflect on the reason that I run in the first place. Aside from the feeling I get from pushing myself to the most extreme limits of physical exertion, I run because I know that it is nothing compared to Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. (hey, wasn't he born today?) - To prove to myself that the hardships I endure while running for miles and miles are quite miniscule to the pain that he went through. This is why I run:
Isaiah 40:29-31: "He gives strength to the weary, and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.."
I read this passage before every meet. It's a reminder that whatever happens on the Cross Country course, or on the track, God is there.
Merry Christmas!
