Note
(injured)

Ouch, left ankle is in a lot of pain today.

On Monday at the night-o I went over on it, nothing bad at all, didn’t stop me running or nuffink, but it must have strained my peroneal tendons a little (they’re the 2 tendons what stretch from the bottom of your calf, around under the outside of the ankle bone lumpy bit, and join on to the underside of the outer edge of your foot).

Last night doing BMF gave my legs a beasting, especially all the jumping and pliometric stuff, and today I can barely walk on my left foot due to very painful preoneal tendons. It's painful just to touch the outside of my foot below the ankle bone lump.

Taken a couple of ibuprofens during the day to take the edge off the pain, but I'm still hobbling around the office.

Cycling is ok though, until I have to put my left foot down.

I've moved out of Gavins and into a new house in Rossmore (a more worthwhile cycle to work distance and right next to the Bourne Valley Greenway leading up to Canford Heath and down to Bomo centre).

I will now start logging my BTWs again now that the ride is more than a little over 5 mins.

Downhill most of the way there.

Run - Road intervals (British Military Fitness) 1:00:00 [4] 8.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Terrafly 303

Turned up at Poole Park for BMF and was given the choice of a normal BMF session or a 'run club' session. I like running and I don't hurt so much after doing it. So I chose run club.

A really good session including some novel warm up exercises, sprint intervals, a few token squat thrusts and burpees, pyramid intervals between lamp posts, some plyometric exercises jumping/stepping/lunging using a 2' wall, and a fartlek hill session.

I was out in the lead on all of them so for last bit the instructor gave me his backpack to run with.

Bit of a cop out instead of doing the normal session, but I definitely got some value from it. Properly cleared my lungs and chest of phlegm.

Distance is a guess.

Orienteering race (WSX Night League) 1:00:59 [3] 8.0 km (7:37 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295

Brownsea Island night event complete with ferry ride to get there.

My cold seemed to take forever to go so took it fairly steadily tonight in the hope that I might be a bit more accurate than I would be at full throttle.

First run with my new Cree 1600 lumen head torch. It is super bright. Well impressed. Not so impressed that the bulb unit kept dropping down with every step I took. I tried to glide over the terrain as best I could but I still had to run most of this with one hand holding the torch to my forehead.

Even with a super bright light I failed to hit many cleanly. Most of the hour was spent running to the circle, then wandering around looking for the control until Nigel Benham caught up and led me into it. Not helped by the fact that there were no kites, just poles, and no one thought to tell me before I started.

Finished in 5th, having got all controls but losing 10 points being over time. Winner (an M50) cleaned up in 47mins.
