Orienteering race (BOK sat league) 42:30 [4] 5.1 km (8:20 / km) +126m 7:25 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 340

Greyfield Wood, Green course 4.4km 180m.

A nice little surprisingly featureful forest. Good fun, but the map could do with some updating I think.

Running well but lost time having to navigate. Couldn't find #3, took a crap route to #5, spent ages scrambling around wet slippy rocks looking for #6, couldn't find #8 despite relocating 2/3 times, and then the log 'bridge' just W of #17 snapped under me and I stacked it hands and knees into the muddy stream.

Garmin tells me I spent just under 5 mins not moving.

Run - Road 27:00 [3] 6.0 km (4:30 / km)
shoes: New Balance Minimus MT10RD

Jog up to the Downs for Cap'n Gebbett's intervals.

Then back again afterwards.

Run - Off road intervals 40:00 [4] 4.5 km (8:53 / km)
shoes: New Balance Minimus MT10RD

Cap'n Gebbett's inaugural informal intervals session on the Downs.

A nice coterie turned up; Dr Bone & Hanne, Matt W, Abi, Paul, and a surprise show from Matt F until we started to actually run.

Warm up jog around the northern end of the Downs, then some stretching, drills & strides.

8*350m across the wet & muddy grass with 75 sec recovery. Good pace running alongside the Doctor.

A little over 1 min each way.

This was the first time I've done a fast/hard session like this in minimalist shoes. Was a little worried my calves might suffer, but with the ground being so wet and spongy there were no pains or problems. Being dark and uneven underfoot I found myself concentrating on my light, fast and open 'barefoot' running form so it was a good exercise all round.

Thanks Paul. I hope the sessions prove a success.
