Run - Terrain 1:11:33 [3] 14.67 km (4:53 / km)
ahr:137 max:185 shoes: Asics Gel

Run in the New Forest. Was intending this to be a nice steady proper long run, with Laura alongside on the MTB. Didn't quite go to plan. Took Toby dog with us, without a lead. Through a combination of trying to avoid crossing big roads and my poor route planning for a MTB, we actually spent quite a lot of time (20 minutes) stopping to carry the bike over bogs/marshes. And then Toby went AWOL so we spent a good 5 mins backtracking to find him amongst the undergrowth. And to top it off, we were then summonsed by the inlaws to a wedding logistics meeting so we cut the long run short. Probably a good thing going by the amount of coughing I am now doing.

Note

Spoke too soon. After cylcing in and running home, went out for a leaving do with Laura's colleagues. Didn't drink, but 5 hours' sleep before having to leave for the New Forest to meet the Registrar and do various other wedding things didn't help shake off the cold. Throat feeling rough again today, and now with phlegmy cough to accompany it.

Throat felt a lot better this morning so I thought a run home should be fine. It was. Very nice run home around part of the airfield and part of Blaise. Chronic gut ache all the way though, after eating too late in the afternoon. Deflated fully in the last 5 mins. Very satisfying.

Orienteering race (Jk Relays) 36:09 [5] 6.0 km (6:02 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra

Braunton Burrows

Last leg on the men's premier, BOK second team with Matt F and John.

Took a couple of controls to get my head into the 1:10k. On the whole, an ok race, but not as clean as yesterday. A few misses here and there, but no howlers. Was managing to stay ahead of the two CNOC guys I set off with.

Turns out I MPed #14, code 69 at the gate. I am convinced I punched it. Not least because Alice Bedwell did miss a control at a gate and she warned me before I started about doing that. I went through that control with several other people, one of whom, one of the CNOC guys, I spoke to afterwards and he said that he thought I punched it as he was immediately behind me. I put in a protest but was told that unless a whole load of other people complain about the same control there's nothing that can be done. I'll be interested to see/hear where all the other teams that MPed did it.
