Back from climbing in the southern Cascades with Greg. Great trip with a nice summit on Shasta and interesting rock pile called Jefferson (is anything holding this mountain up?). 16,000' climbing.
Mountain Climbing (Mt Jefferson - climb) 18:00:00 [3] 8.0 mi (2:15:00 / mi)
Glacier and rock climb on Mt Jefferson. Steep glacier ice going up, dicey rock cliff traverse at top, descent down different route due to changing snow conditions. Major detours due to crevasses. 6,000' climb.
Backpacking (Mt Jefferson - Oregon) 3:00:00 [4] 5.0 mi (36:00 / mi)
Approach hike to Mt Jefferson. 2,000' climb. Lots of extra weight in this pack (jars of spaghetti sauce, salad dressing; couple pounds of spaghetti, biscuit roll, sausage, frozen oj, etc. Not exactly a freeze-dry trip).
O-course Training (Mt Alto, PA) 1:39:00 [2] 7.0 km (14:09 / km)
Running on southern part of Mt Alto map, hanging streamers on charcoal platforms. Some of this area has been butchered by logging, but much is untouched, open and runnable. Nice, crisp platforms, but less visibility than French Creek, so a bit tricky. Good practice area.
Appalachian trail N I70 to Pogo Hotel Campsite and back. First mile is a rocky grade, and then flat and rolling to a final drop to the campsite.
Humid, but not too hot. Felt like pushing so ran pretty hard, including the rocky sections.
Trail Running (Sweet Air) 1:39:00 [2] 9.0 km (11:00 / km)
Ran around Gunpowder Falls St Pk checking out the Sweet Air section. Terrain rolling and some open areas. Will return during the winter for a better look.
O-course Training (Control pickup) 2:10:00 [3] 9.0 km (14:27 / km)
Did controls around Birdsboro Reservoir. Sure am glad I didn't do this part of the map yesterday.
Heels tender and losing skin. Wonderful what you can hold together with a roll of tape.
