O - competition (Maine Red) 1:11:00 [5] 6.2 km (11:27 / km)

Trouble going to the first control (4 min), then went well to the end. 4th place finish M-45.

O - competition (Gauntlent Rogaine) 23:47:00 [3] 80.0 km (17:50 / km)

Off to New Brunswick for a rogaine on the Gagetown military training area. Rolling terrain, some open, some sections of saplings in logged over areas. Forecast was for overcast but no rain; reality was the back end of hurricane Ivan. Made bushwacking and fordings interesting.

With Glen Brake, moved well and steadily; no stops except for some hot chocolate at sunrise. Cool & sloppy wet conditions kept the feet in surprisingly good shape. Looked like prunes but definitely didn't get any hot spots or blisters.

Tackled the most remote and technically difficult part of the map in the dead of night. Lost a couple hours on three hilltops trying to find their controls. Ended up just out of first place overall and well ahead of third.

Adventure Race (Waterville Valley 24 hr) 23:40:00 [3] 108.0 mi (13:09 / mi) +4800m 11:33 / mi

New England AR #3 with Tracey Olafsen and Greg. Kind of heavy in the mountain biking. Greg was awesome on the paddling and biking. Need to harness his power with a tow for biking. Some route choice issues gave us an advantage in the trekking. Lots of people got lost in the dark. Did an interesting buskwack with the bikes across the steep upper part of Gunstock Mtn.

Canoeing 13 miles
Mountain Biking 80 miles (2 segments)
Treking 15 miles
90' rappel (in the dark)

Kudos to Tracey for gutting it out to completion after taking a nasty bike fall. Only 10 teams finished the whole course; 30 either DNF'd or did a shortened course. We finished 7th and ended up 5th for the series.

Trail Running (Pisgah SPk) 2:22:00 [2] 13.0 mi (10:55 / mi)

Easy long run with Peter G. Warm and a little humid. Felt sluggish most of the run. Thanks to Peter for dragging me up the many hills on the trail.
