9 AM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez down the river (in melb). Felt pretty gooooood
3 PM

running intervals 1:20:50 [5]

6x5x40/20s up the river, in the daylight for a change! Felt pretty good, it was hard.

Tuesday May 30, 2017 #

Note
(rest day)

Didn't sleep well last night and had a tired headache all day today, so took a rest!

Monday May 29, 2017 #

10 AM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez. Felt pretty good!
4 PM

running tempo 1:46:30 [5]

Threshold on single tracks (still in ballarat!) - 20H 4E 15H 3E 10H 2E 5H, then 4x200m. Felt good, and it was fun. Tracks were quite slippery though so couldn't go full bore on some sections. Also I'm not sure why this took so much longer today than it normally does. Oh well

orienteering 1:33:33 [3]

Oing at that map near our house (can't remember what it's called). Felt quite ok but just took it pretty easy and had a nice terrain run. It was 7 degrees and drizzling which was niiiiice.....and also a pleasant 11 degrees inside our house (my parentals don't believe in heating)
5 PM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez. Felt pretty good, but my hands were freezing

Saturday May 27, 2017 #

11 AM

running 33:00 [3]

Yogging around the BUNS event with moth and gfry. It was pleasant
4 PM

orienteering intervals 1:14:27 [5]

Sprintervals around Creswick forestry school (time includes warm up and down). Really cool area, I think it should be used for a NOL. Did one longer 2.5km course then four shorter intervals. Felt pretty good actually, didn't pick all the best route choices though and was a little too slow with some of my decisions.

running 30:00 [3]

Ez down the river. Felt ok
4 PM

running intervals 1:16:00 [5]

4x30(1) 3x3(2) 4x4(1) in ballarat. Felt ok, it was fun!

Also I've said it before and I'll say it again. I hate Ballarat bogans. Earlier this week some idiots burnt yet another car at the top of our driveway, which also burnt and destroyed our wooden fence. So now we have a burnt car sitting in our driveway next to the gate that was broken by other bogans just a few weeks ago. Ridiculous.

6 PM

running intervals 1:20:02 [5]

6x5x40/20s up the river. Meant to do longer reps today but to be honest I'm really bored of running in Melbourne, so stuck to 40/20s to keep my brain occupied. Luckily for me, my PhD and casual jobs are super flexible so I might do my other sessions in ballarat this week :D

orienteering race 43:59 [5]

Melbourne sprint races - first race. Time includes warm up and down. Felt really flat running, so was surprised to just pip Tash by 6 seconds. Ok technically though not great

orienteering race 46:35 [5]

Second race. This was really fun - started at the same time as Tash where we did opposite loops then came together for a fast bit at the end (i.e. easy controls across an oval). I came through about 100m ahead of her and just managed to hold her off to finish in front! Buuuuut then I downloaded and saw I mispunched :( ran straight past number 17 (?) without remembering to punch it!!! Dammit :( :(

Saturday May 20, 2017 #

5 PM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez with moth and miff. Actually felt quite ok, which is surprising because I was really tired after my second run yesterday.

Strength and Conditioning 30:00 [3]

Just core and then some rolling

Friday May 19, 2017 #

10 AM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez in the forest. Felt ok
3 PM

running tempo 1:40:53 [5]

Threshold in the forest (on single tracks) followed by 4x200m hard at the end. Then shuffled home because I was dead and starving

Thursday May 18, 2017 #

6 PM

running 30:00 [3]

Had to run in the dark when I got to ballarat (with a headlight, obviously)....not gonna lie, it was scary!! Luckily I didn't see the blair witch, only a mouse, a hare, and a big black dog

6 PM

running intervals 1:17:20 [5]

6x5x40/20s up the river. Felt pretty good but maybe went out a little too hard - was dying for the last two sets! It was fun though, love this session

Tuesday May 16, 2017 #

running 30:00 [3]

Strength and Conditioning 50:00 [3]

Just core and then also some deep glute rolling

Monday May 15, 2017 #

10 AM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez in ballarat
6 PM

running intervals 1:19:26 [5]

Compound miles up the river back in melb. Felt pretty good, though hips were very sore again so felt quite uncomfortable at the start. I'm guessing I just need to ease up on the glute strength work I've been doing, as it's messed up some deep muscles....or that's my totally professional physio opinion ;)

Sunday May 14, 2017 #

10 AM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez. Felt ok.
3 PM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez. Felt ok and prob could have done a tempo but haven't had a great training week so some more recovery might be a wiser choice

Saturday May 13, 2017 #

12 PM

orienteering 1:16:11 [4]

Bendigo event (including warm up and down, took 54min for the course). Had really really sore hips and struggled to run properly....started to come better by the end so I sped up slightly.
2 PM

orienteering intervals 46:18 [5]

Sprintervals at la trobe uni. Glutes had loosened slightly so was able to run harder. It was fun

Friday May 12, 2017 #

Note
(rest day)

Felt like a rest day. So I was lazy and had one

Thursday May 11, 2017 #

9 AM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez down the river. Felt ok
6 PM

running intervals 1:16:21 [5]

6x5x40/20s up the river. Felt quite good actually and was able to push really hard!! So the lesson is that, while annoying at the time, missing or skipping a session can actually sometimes be really good. Also I find it really weird that people here don't use headlights - I've never seen another runner or walker with a light, they all just run/walk in the gloom....maybe it's me who's weird!!

9 AM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez up the river. Felt like ass
6 PM

running 1:18:40 [3]

Intended to do ints but felt crap again - strangely tight and sore in the glutes and hammies. I think some poor nutrition choices have caught up to me - skipping dinner on saturday and then I've had almost no food in my Melbourne house so have been eating random things like bread and carrots. Anyway......annoying but I'll try again on thursday

Monday May 8, 2017 #

running 30:00 [3]

Ez down the river (in melb). Felt pretty good

Strength and Conditioning 50:00 [3]

Glutes and core

Sunday May 7, 2017 #

9 AM

running tempo 1:39:00 [5]

Threshold in the forest: 20H 4E 15H 3E 10H 2E 5H, then a bit of a rest and did 4 x 200m hard. Was getting really cold at this point so went straight home even though i should have done a much longer warm down.
Felt much better than expected after skipping dinner last night (had a really late lunch and wasn't hungry!)

Saturday May 6, 2017 #

orienteering 1:27:00 [5]

Time includes warm up and down, took 63 for the race

Kooyoora "bermuda triangle". Tough area! I was far too mentally relaxed and had a shocking run. Didn't help that I also felt shite physically for some reason and struggled a bit lifting my legs over all the crap on the ground. It was fun, but felt a bit depressed afterwards!!

running 30:00 [3]

Ez w miff

Friday May 5, 2017 #

running 30:00 [3]

Thursday May 4, 2017 #

11 AM

running intervals 1:08:09 [5]

4x2(1), 6x1(30s), 10x30(30) along undulating tracks. Felt good, it was fun! Feeling kind of in limbo with training at the moment though - not sure what I'm training for (if anything!), but I guess I'll just keep doing what I'm doing
5 PM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez with moth and miff. There was some burning off happening on our usual route, so we had to do something different. Felt kinda tired actually

Wednesday May 3, 2017 #

4 PM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez in the forest. Felt ok. I totally meant to go back to Melbourne this week....but I'm lazy haha

Strength and Conditioning 50:00 [3]

Core and glutes. Kinda crazy how quickly you get better at this when you just start up!

Tuesday May 2, 2017 #

10 AM

running intervals 1:18:00 [5]

4x30(1) 3x3(2) 4x4(1) along undulating tracks in the forest. Felt good, and I think I put in the usual amount of effort but weirdly I never felt as smashed as I normally do in this session...I'm not sure why, and it kind of made it not as satisfying as usual :/ Saw a cute koala wandering through the pine forest
5 PM

running 30:00 [3]

Ez with moth, miff, and gfry. Cute! Felt good. It was 9 degrees when I ran this morning. It was 8 degrees for this run. Mm hello ballarat winter

Strength and Conditioning 50:00 [3]
