Got the bus to morialta for a long run. Same route as last week but was a bit quicker and was meant to do 1hr50 today so had to do a bit of running in small circles to make up the time haha. Mostly felt quite ok, and shin was only a little niggly and better than I feared it would be (it's been aching a bit strangely lately).
Data from hrm is weird as (130bpm for the big climbs at the start, then 230bpm for the not so steep stuff :/) think I need a new one!
Super nice day today, I almost got too hot. The one bad thing about morialta is that soo many people go there on weekends.

Easy run along the river. Think I've gotten better at doing easy runs, maybe it's cuz I have a new iPod to run with? So now I can just zone out and shuffle along haha. Pretty nice weather! Not looking forward to 27 next Tuesday though :/

running hills 55:12 [5]

Hill sprints in the morning along the river on the way to the SA relays at St Peters (where I was helping). Felt ok, but a bit of tiredness in my legs from yesterday. Took a bit longer than expected as I had to do a lap around St Peters cuz all the gates were locked!

Running around waking up controls for the relays. This was super fun! Wished I could have been racing, it's a really pretty campus and fun area :)

Got the bus to morialta for a sweet long run. Similar route as two weeks ago - went up the ridge towards black hill then turned around and went back to the walking tracks. Felt ok! Shin was fine. Pretty tired on the hills at the end.

Did my postal vote today - the senate ballot paper is epic! Had to do a bit of investigating into all these random parties...

Went straight after uni out into the rain to go and do hill sprints....but after a short while I decided that was a bad idea as my shin was the sorest it's been in almost a year - completely out of the blue. Feel like I'm an old lady falling apart!

Super easy run along the river in the rain. Felt ok, legs are a bit sore today which is strange....think the run help loosened them but I SHALL do a stretching slash massage session tonight!!! Wish I could get a real massage but they're so expensive :(

Felt very bleh running over to north adelaide from home - was starving hungry all last night and didn't want to get out if bed to eat something sooo all of today I was feeling really yuk.
Anyhoo, since I was feeling crap but still wanted to attempt a session I did my own thing and just did short efforts with generous recovery. Seemed to work as I started feeling fast towards the end of the session. Will eat a better dinner tonight though!

Joined the SA trail runners with Simon and Bridget to do a loop at mt osmond. I started out really badly as my calves did their thing and got ridiculously tight up the first hills. Been thinking about this problem a lot lately as I've been studying biomechanics and some more anatomy, and I'm pretty sure its something other than just a tight muscle. Feels a bit more like a nerve or even blood vessel is being occluded somewhere (maybe in my pelvis?). Anyway, I'm no physio so I may go see someone about it as it's very painful.
Calves got better at approx 30mins and I felt much better from then on. Did some extra with Simon up chambers gully after to make it a bit longer.

Today I was a massive wuss. It was cold and windy and wet, and I just couldn't get motivated so just ran around the course having a big sook. So annoyed at myself! Looked like a really fun exercise, if only i had focused and got pumped to do it properly. Gah! So really I got no navigational practise, but I guess I got some physical exercise so that's ok.
Really need to HTFU !

Easy stretching and conditioning stuff. Just another easy day today, though I did walk to and from uni three times so probably walked around for more than 90mins, which was good to gently loosen the legs!
Going to have another very easy day tomorrow and then start getting back into training, having a mini rest now to mentally freshen up!

Adventure race race 5:50:00 [3]

Adventure race with Fern and Bridget! :D
Never done one before, so it was all very new and at times a little confusing. Don't have exact time splits for all the activities but we started with a run, then ride, then run, then paddle boarding, then running, then an extra surprise ride!
I was really bad at the riding, mostly cuz I was being a pansy on the muddy downhills....so I think we lost time there. The running was good though! And the paddle boarding was heaps of fun :D I wasn't very excited about the surprise ride at the end...was feeling pretty damn tired at that stage...but we managed to do it ok (except Bridget's pedal fell off so she couldn't ride and had to run with her bike instead - champion!).
Kinda frustrating that we only had one map between the three of us, but I was glad not to do any navigating as the map was pretty terrible and it would have just annoyed the hell out of me (just like how I hate rogaining maps).
Anyway, it was really fun and I would definitely do another one!

Caught the bus to morialta for a long run! Did sort of the same as last time and went up the spur to the north of all the walking tracks, but this time I went further and explored the fire trails...no idea where I was going but it was pretty cool! Must have done a fair bit of climbing as it felt like a long descent back to the walking tracks. Then wanted to make it a bit longer so did another little steep hill loop.
Felt pretty good! :D Garmin says average heart rate was 168bpm which is pretty high, so it was a good hard long run (or maybe my hrm is stuffed....)

In other news, the elbow that i stuffed at the adelaide NOL way back in March can now be straightened! (Though it still feels a bit stiff). WOO

A tempo-ish run around north adelaide with Bridget, Simon and Liv. Ran the middle part (dunno exactly how long it was) at a higher intensity (maybe at sub-threshold? Not easy but not hard). Felt ok. Maybe should have gone harder? I've never really understood tempo efforts!
