running 38:31 [3]

run in ballarat
calves had a huge protest today and were extremely sore/tight (expecially left). they were cramping badly last night too.
as a consequnce this run was very slow and painful....i think i blame lack of stretching and also the hard ground (in comparison to sweden + norway)
on the other hand the forest was so so nice :D

Run at stromlo with Ginny

Note

My bum is sore from horse riding yesterday!!!
Started my trip home - trains all day then plane at night
11 PM

running race 2:00 [5]

SPRINTING to my plane. Abit of a dilemma at immigration in Helsinki...aparently yes i did need a visa for my trip, the lady at the embassy in London was wrong :( I've been staying illegally in Europe :S so I had 40mins of extremely nervous waiting in a little room while the immigration dude decided my punishment. They started calling me for the plane so I think he hurried up abit....

Tuesday Oct 19, 2010 #

10 AM

running 1:00:24 [3]

easy run in the forest again. all my muscle fibres were sore (?), and the weather was gay again.....HOWEVER this was my last run in europe slash sweden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :'( :'( :'( :'(

Sunday Oct 17, 2010 #

MOOSE HUNTING 2:00:00 [3]

yes this counts as training!!
spent the whole day (7am till 6pm) out in the forest for the moose hunt. my job was a walker, so i had to walk through the forest yelling to scare the moose towards the shooters. abit scary at times walking towards 12 guys with guns ready....but i didnt get shot ;)
quite rough terrain so it was hard work walking, lots of scrambling up cliffs and sinking in marshes....
was walking for more than 2hrs obviously but 2hrs will do.

also, it was FREEZING! didnt get above 0degrees until 11am :S good thing im leaving soon... :P

Event: Blodslitet

10 AM

running warm up/down 10:00 [3]

SO SO COLD!!!!
think it would have been near 0 degrees, couldnt feel my fingers or toes!

orienteering race 2:06:39 [5]

yeeeewwwww this was the coolest race ever!!!!
the mass start was a little scary and involved a lot of girls pushing and shoving :S i got scared and so was spat out the back...then there were people everywhere on the way to no1!! i dont think anyone knew where they were going..but luckily the first control i saw was mine :P
the first two loops were good as they were only 3km each hehe. i made several small mistakes and two biggish ones on like the easiest controls on the whole course. was with girls for some parts and by myself for others.
then the last loop was 6km (about) but i wasnt feeling very tired so it went ok. made some more small mistakes and was caught by some girls, so we formed a pack near the end of the course. was still feeling good and thought perhaps i hadnt run hard enough in the first two loops....until we came to the climb up the hill to the last few controls. my legs were DEAD!
was still in a pack at the last control so it came down to a sprint finish! my legs had nothing so i didnt win the finish sprint :(

ended up coming 30th...which is ok. 20mins down on second place (anna won by 6mins, so she doesnt count haha :P) which is acceptable for an ultra long. some jwocers not far infront of me too.
but i made quite afew silly mistakes and felt like i was running conservatively, so there is lots to be improved.......such a fun race though!!!!!

running 20:00 [3]

Run in Geneva
I hate hate hate running in cities, and this was no exception. Tried to find a park but there are too many people!! I should have made myself get up to run in zermatt :(
my legs were extremely sore, expecially my glutes :(
Two seedy French guys tried to talk to me so i said 'no French!!!' and ran away haha

Thursday Oct 7, 2010 #

8 AM

running 1:56:11 [3]

Similar to yesterday in that I walked several epic steep hills ...but it kept the hr right up so counts as training;)
such spectacular scenery, and such a nice day. This is my favourite place in the world!!!!

Wednesday Oct 6, 2010 #

7 AM

running 1:52:59 [3]

Got up quite early hoping there wouldn't be so many people (even in the off-season it's crowded!!) and I had the whole track to myself :) plus some sheep....
Ran/walked up the valley. A lot of walking on account of the steepness, would have been good mtn running training but I was more interested in getting photos than running.
Matterhorn was lit by the rising sun, it was incredible!!!

Tuesday Oct 5, 2010 #

Note
(rest day)

Finally finished my epic train hopping at 4pm and arrived at my hostel (in zermatt :D :D)
should have been itching to run on account of too much train sitting, however I felt like I was going to faint instead. So no run:(
and no Matterhorn sight as it's cloudyyy :(

Monday Oct 4, 2010 #

7 AM

running 38:33 [3]

Easy run in the morning before commencing an epic trip on the trains....all up nearly 30hrs I think :S

Sunday Oct 3, 2010 #

running intervals 1:22:35 [5]

Hanny ints around the lighted skiing track, so some undulations and stuff. All the Autumn colours are so pretty! But it's cold brrr....
I have a blister on the top of one of my toes, and it keeps rubbing on my shoes so won't form a scab....think it's gonna be infected really soon :S

Saturday Oct 2, 2010 #

12 PM

running 2:00:56 [3]

Nice long run on the other side of the lake. Made my way to the cool area, only to find it's all been felled!!!!! :'( it's really sad, it was the best forest in the world there :(
felt tired at the start, then must have warmed up or something cuz I felt better for the rest.

Friday Oct 1, 2010 #

running 38:00 [3]

Left high wycombe in the early morning to fly back to sweden.
Was almost dark when we got back to Ed but I was determined to go for a run....went around the lighted track but then had to run home in almost pitch black. It was abit scary :S
legs felt good, which makes me happy cuz all my other runs this week have been shite.

Note

Crappy week of training, but was good recovery week I guess. And good to be a tourist again.
