slept for like 12 hrs last night! twas soooo good :) and i had an awesome dream i was climbing up mt cook! crazy :P
anyhoo it was pretty much dark when i got home from work and i considered going for a night run.....but didnt...

@ rendezvous!!! in the cold rain with sah, gin, lachy and george :)
line course out to the start of the course. was an epic long like 4km line course, crazy! good for the first half when it was in the open....but then got in the thick stuff and boy it was thick! was pretty much just a wet-bush bash for ages haha. good fun though :D
also i decided to wade through the river (waist-deep) instead of just jumping it like everyone else...

middle dist course back to where we started the line course. twas ok, off on one and the rest were good actually. just couldnt run very fast cuz my calves hurt uphill :(

run back to the car. i almost fell in the river again!!!

next small course around the start of easter day 1. was cold and wet and hungry so cut the last bit off.

saturday event at mulligans flat
aim today was to just run as fast as I could, since i couldnt get to the xc :(
didnt even bring my control card to punch and didnt really do any map reading at all, hence was way off on direction on almost all controls haha!

Well I was very organised and took along my dead light and no compass, so what a surprise I couldn't find anything!! waited for sah so I could just follow her, but ended up randomly running around, which was fun but kinda scary at the same time :D

lost so much time in the vague areas, didnt trust my bearing so kept stopping early and running around in little circles...stupid. lost about 4-5mins all up
felt quite good physically, particularly at the end (maybe didnt run hard enough at the start....??)

Time is a guess as the garmin died, and don't know distance as I took a wrong turn and cut some of the course!! Woops...
Hammys and back were super sore from gym yesty so the hills on the course really hurt!! :( cramped on the last hill too :(
pretty bummed about this race... Everything just seemed to go wrong....

exhausted from working at bakers for 8 hrs today (starting at 7am), and legs were stiff from gym yesterday so took alot of dicipline to get myself off the couch to do this!!
felt ok when i got out there though..............................but have the same shift tomorrow so dont know if i'll be alive enough for intervals like i planned :(

Easy run to let off some steam: turned up to work to start at 9:30 but was told I had been changed to 11:30 ...which I had no knowledge of. So I was shooed off only to return 2hrs later...made my bad mood worse :(

an ok run, lost time at 4 being abit too high, then at the second last cuz what a suprise I couldn't read the map...so was wandering around some biggish rocks which were about half a pixel in size on the map
anyway, it was the same for everyone and I still had fun :D

really enjoyed the area and course :) made 3 mistakes: didn't read map correctly at one and had to go the long way round a wall, went in one building too early on one so had to zig zag around and had a slow route on the 3rd last one I think it was.
Maybe lost 45secs to 1min in total but felt like I had good flow :D

love this map!! So was very dissapointed to have such a shocker! Lost time at almost every control. Tried to run too fast at the start cuz I had heaps of energy, then tried to drop someone later on by picking up the pace...which was a bad idea in this area!! So so annoyed at myself, didn't deserve the win...

very nice forest, but my legs just did not want to run. struggled for the first 10mins so then just walked for the rest, and ran for 15mins at the end. wish i had a forest like this in my backyard! :D

sad to leave nz today :( really like the terrain here and am already planning another trip...............

90min rogaine on turkey ridge i think it was, steep open farmland. very different to aus!
did the first few ok, then was with mother so we did some relocation/map memory exercises and just ran around randomly, not really aiming to get lots of controls. was quite cool!
calves got uber tight on all the hills and i suspect are wanting a rest...

woodhill, on the maps being used for QB3.
did some more O ints, the first few were baaaaad as i was still half asleep. then bumped into mark and geoff who gave us another map with taped controls for the event on it. so went on a detour to do a super control picking course of them.
very very cool. am not looking forward to returning to boring old canberra with its lovely spur-gully maps :(

cooooooooooooool area, twas very fast and abit more vague than yesterday. mother went out first and put the tapes out then i followed. made 2 biggish mistakes and the rest were good! find i keep making my mistakes in the circle which is annoying.....maybe need to slow down and read more??

did a course out to the larger part of the map where the main part of our training was. mother shadowed me and we did some stopping in the control circle to make sure we were in the right place....fun though, really liked the forest and map!

did some O ints on the better part of the map we had run to. mother put out the tapes then i came and collected them. very cool low-vis part at the start which was tricky!
then got really tired soon after that and skipped some of the legs cuz i had stopped concentrating.......should have had an easier day yesterday!!

run in the W-somethingsomthing ranges near auckland after arriving. suposed to be an easier run but i got lost!!!! took one glance at the map then just ran...which was dumb cuz i took one wrong turn and ran waaaaaay up a spur in the wrong direction so had to turn around and run really fast back to the car so mother wouldnt worry.
very nice forest though :)
