Note
(rest day)

not really a rest day so much as a work day that started at 11 am Aug. 25th and is scheduled to end by 6 am Aug. 27th.

orienteering race 2:28:29 [3]

stupid mistake on first control, got so distracted by it that I blew the next 2 by a lot, then just went through the motions from there on.

Note

flew home in the evening then had to do some emergency overtime work

orienteering race 53:24 [3]

mostly took it slowly because it was technically more difficult than I can do at any kind of speed faster than a walk. Stuck by my decision to ignore vegetation on the map - couldn't seem to do that on the long which got me into trouble

for me a very good race - was never totally lost - no leg over 15 minutes!

orienteering 1:30:00 [3]

did the model event, all the controls, some twice, and a few other spots. decided, after fighting through a white area of the map, not to trust vegetation on the map for the rest of the week-end

banged my knee on something and got one of the coolest looking bruises I have ever had. Should have taken a picture.

orienteering race 23:17 [5]

a couple of poor route choice decisions, but overall a lot of fun. got a nylon rope wrapped around both legs exiting one control. Bet that looked pretty funny. I think my biggest problem on a sprint is time spent at a control - have to learn to read ahead on the map - with 19 controls on the map, those seconds add up pretty quickly
