Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Orienteering race 1:32:19 [5] 10.3 km (8:58 / km) +274m 7:55 / km
shoes: INOV8 x-talon 190

Nationals Long Distance -
so my Garmin says I only did 274m climb, quite different from the 685m listed in the control descriptions! (actually did 12.53km)

James is a stupid head! So many mistakes, some small ones, but also a few 1-2min ones. Too worried about not being fit that I was rushing the nav. Right from the start running out of the start triangle before choosing a good route. Hesitant to #2. Lost 2mins on #6 (basically throwing away any chance of a good result before the race had really started). Not an ideal route to #8, hesitant to #9, screwed up #10 another min.

Bad route to #13, loosing 90secs, bad route to #16 dropping down to the bottom instead of taking a small 2 contour climb at the beginning (a little distracted by another competitor here). #19 wasnt paying enough attention and went further left than planned, missing the track and loosing another 45-60 secs.

Screwed up #23 near the circle confusing a hill with the spur.
What a dissapointing effort.

NZ Champs Sprint -
Achillies wasn't too bad, a bit achy afterwards, but pretty happy with that :)
As for the course, got caught out by 2 unmapped unpassable walls, which really threw me. Couldnt figure out what I had done wrong, and began thinking I was somewhere different to what I actually was, confidence out the window. Went left to #6, but that was quite a bit slower. Was a bit difficult going through the golf course (which was also not mapped well). Bryn caught me up after the spectator, so was running with him for most of the tight building controls. Was kinda avg going through, but was just double checking everything after the map problems earlier on. Bryn was running away from me, then made a mistake, so I snuck through. But WTF with #22? Had no idea where to start looking after I ran to the right point on the map. Ran around in a few circles, then Amber figured out it was upstairs. Last few were fine, but it was well and truly over.

Running 29:59 [3] 6.74 km (4:27 / km) +91m 4:10 / km
slept:7.0 (injured) shoes: ASICS DS Trainer 16

Easy run round the domain, with a few stride outs. Knees quite sore, but I think they'll be good tomorrow after having run the past 2 days. Achillies was uncomfortable with only a little bit of pain. Feeling like it will be okay for Friday, but probably gonna get a bit punished in the long with all the climb, so sunday might be a different story. But just happy to be running, and ill take each day as it comes.

Running 54:57 [3] 12.44 km (4:25 / km) +158m 4:09 / km
slept:7.0 (injured) shoes: ASICS Nimbus 13

Felt like D day today, was really anxious about it all day at work, but knew that if I was going to be able to run nationals, I needed to be able to handle a moderate run. And thankfully the achillies seemed to hold out!! :) :)
Felt uncomfortable, and a little painful, but it was bearable. I was favouring my left leg a lot. Felt worse when ever there was a bit of an incline. Knees were the most painful thing, they really struggle having more than one day off.

Strength Training 10:00 [3]

Eccentric drops. C'mon achillies, magically get better.

Strength Training 10:00 [3]

5 PM

Swimming 20:00 [3]

Aqua Jogging 20:00 [3]

9 PM

Strength Training 10:00 [3]

So that makes 360 eccentric drops for the day, and all without pain. So if it is tendonitis, at least I've caught it early so hopefully I wont be off for long.

Gym 40:00 [3]

Ended up being a long day at work. So enjoyed being out of the office, even if it was just inside a gym rather than running. Did a good sesh on the spin bike, the usual rehab exercises, which now includes heaps of eccentric drops :( Getting the feeling that I'm gonna be off for 6weeks+
