Race just outside Hønefoss in an area where there are two types of terrain: nice fast flat stuff and a horrible clearcut. Figured based on the meet info put out a few days before the race that it was probably going to be in the latter. As suspected, this was probably the least enjoyable terrain I have ever run in. But it was just what I needed to work a bit on getting the edge back in my navigation.

Most of the course was in a 5 year old clear-cut with branches everywhere and a fair bit of young undergrowth on top of rocky footing. Extremely hilly. The sun was baking us all in the south facing hillside. Decent race with not too many mistakes. Fastest time on course by a few minutes.

Took the bus to Solemskogen, then ran on gravel roads with Louise to the orienteering event organized by Lillomarka. Turned out this was the easiest way to get there since the arena was quite a ways from the nearest parking lot anyway. Decided to not race today and let Louise race properly instead. This meant I had incredible selection at the food tent before everyone was racing.

Ran back home afterwards with Louise and Mathias, and partly with Ivar on a bike. Stopped on the way back so Louise and Mathias could swim in the Kringla lake. Nice day.

Ran around Maridalsvannet on gravel roads with Tessa. She slept for an hour, giggled for 20 minutes and cried the last 5. Nice day out, and good legs.

Geoform race at Tangenåsen. A pretty decent race for the first half, but then a spectacular meltdown on the second half when I think I missed on almost every control. Think I lost focus and couldn't regain it. Must have left 10-15 minutes out there. Map.

Went on a nice stroller run with Louise and she had just finished two loops of the lit loop when we discovered Mikael lurking in the bushes about to try to steal my Strava record on the same loop. Decided to join him instead. We destroyed my previous record by 45 seconds and he beat me fair and square with a few meters, however luck was on my side and my GPS route was 2 seconds faster.
