Orienteering race 1:25:00 [4] ***
spiked:11/18c

FLO Long Distance: I was expecting more of the same but today the forest was a little rougher (but still lightning fast) and it took too long to get my head into today's race (I guess I prefer middle distance). Missed 6 of the first 7 controls and then found my mind wandering on the ~4km leg (and then missed it too). Got it together after that and pushed hard to the end and picked off the final few controls well despite rougher terrain (fell at least 4 times - getting tired?). Not very pleased with the race today. Had better pre-race prep but couldn't focus. Finished the day off at Disney - now that would make an awesome sprint race! This was a fun weekend. Would love to see this become an annual or bi-annual event.

Orienteering race 30:00 [5]
spiked:14/16c slept:7.5

FLO Middle Distance: Perhaps a PB for TPK (4.75)today! Ran almost perfect and kept up a strong pace. Had a little bit of hesitation (5-10 seconds) at #3 and #5 early in the race and then really picked it up until the right achilles started to hurt with 2-3? controls to go - and cruised in. Very pleased with the run though. Finished the day off a visit to the Canaveral seashore beach and then Cirque at Disney.

Strength 25:00 [1]
slept:5.0

Normal stuff with stretching - sore from all the walking at Disney. Not much sleep due to West Jet and eating lots of grilled crap today. Certainly not great prep for the races.

Cycling 30:00 [1]

While watching the ski sprints. Very inspirational.

New training goal of this week / month: Taper and GHO with the FLO! i.e., take some time off training, carbo load, stay hydrated, visit Disney, stretch and treat the weekend race as a major event. Proper warm-up, race prep, etc. This will provide a good mid winter fitness indicator. It will be just like Denmark except Disney becomes Legoland, the flat terrain becomes mega hilly, and the alligators become euro orienteers.

Note
(rest day)

Unplanned rest day due to GRET workshop. Man does Que City have a tonne of snow. Rest was a good idea - knee is better.
