12.5km paddle from Nobel beach around Wall Is. and back

25km MTB Nobel beach to CIL trails to Avro Arrow and the hike a bike snowmobile trail to Nine Mile beach then dirt road to G Nordic and Lynx, Partridge, Bunny and Weasel

12.5km trail and terrain run from G Nordic with rattlesnake and eagle and lynx to Fox and over to snowmobile trail to Avro Arrow with bushwhack then bushwhack to CIL pipeline (almost attacked by pit bull dog) to bitches and BS Rd and finished with almost 2 complete Gula Stigens.

AG! was a superstar! Thanks kiddo. I'm a lucky Dad. Life is good.

Georgian Nordic trail and terrain run with AG! No energy today (must be a sign of getting old). Had to take a break in the middle while she ran on some sweet open rock terrain and then I ended a little earlier. Big training day planned for tmrw.

Georgian Nights Trail Race 5K. great course with lots of technical trails. Legs felt great but my gut was
not happy. AG! had the same problem. Backcountry camp food is not ideal race prep I guess.

Got to share the podium with Wil Smith who tied the course record.

Annual Wadd Squad Killarney paddling trip. Fun family getaway. Great weather. Relaxing. We need to visit more often given how close this park is to the Waddtage but when you are in probabaly the best place to paddle in the world there are so many lakes and rivers to choose from.

Overall I'm a little disappointed in the final decisions made by Orienteering Canada regarding the junior categories and courses (and formats) at championship races. As a person that has spent a lot of volunteer time helping grow a large junior program I realize how important volunteers are for our sport so I don't want to be too critical of the changes made (and the changes not made) - especially at a time where I have stepped away from volunteering myself.

I personally feel that the current approach to our competitions are not attractive to juniors (and their parents) and bigger changes need to be made. Changes not just to the ratio of individual to team/relay races but to the format, naming and most importantly marketing of the races and courses/categories. I'm sure the committee struggled with trying to align to what is done in Scandinavia and the rest of Europe vs. what is needed to grow youth participation in Canada. How do we grow domestic participation first and not compromise international preparation for the elite juniors?

Perhaps I'll write about some of the ideas that some
of us in DGL had when time permits.

But first it's time to unplug and go on a much needed family holiday.

Nationals Middle. Took me a while to get into the map. Missed 5 of first 7 CPs. Partly trying to figure out what rock was mapped, partly because this was my first forest orienteering race since March and also partly because I had trouble with vision since I can't find my sports prescription glasses. Nice terrain.
