Orienteering 2:40:00 [2]

Testing the Salomon GRR with theGriz at Rocky Ridge 'and environs'. Absolutely awesome course. Lots of snow in the woods. Ran for probably over 100 minutes today. Last few weeks have been quite promising but whether I can run on non snow is another question.

Strength 25:00 [3]

Blasting at Villanova in the AM. Had hoped for a light jog around the campus in the PM but not enough time. So apparently there is some basketball tournament on down here in the US of A. :) It will be interesting to watch the Villanova game Friday night while being here. I think they are playing Spike's team. Go Cats! :)

Too bad I can't stay and O at French Creek this weekend with the DVOA gang.

Orienteering 1:15:00 [2]

At Hilton Falls - Rocky Ridge with Sudden. Crust cruising most of the time. Good times! My orienteering isn't as rusty as I thought it would be - but I'm not moving very fast either. ~45 minutes of running (max 5 minutes at a time).

Orienteering 2:40:00 [2]

So after today I have realized what the best way is for me to get back in shape. Go orienteering. Today was absolutely awesome. knee to mid thigh deep snow (I had snowshoes and Bender didn't) on the Rocky Ridge - Hilton Falls combo map. It was awesome to jog along and read all the detail that exists out there (although Bender may not have had as much fun as I did). In the end I probably ran for over an hour. The trekking was still hard work. Tomorrow will be tough for people. Technical and lotsa snow.

An awesome area for orienteering!

The full hard core this time. Ugh.

Running 10:00 [3]

Road running. Felt pretty good. No left knee pain but I was thinking about the knee every step. Would be hard to focus on a map while orienteering with this but I'm encouraged. Right knee a bit sore.

(sick)

Running (3 x 4min) in a forest near East Lansing with Muskegger and DJ. Running in woods uphill felt very good. No pain after.

Strength 20:00 [3]

Easy core workout following a whole bunch of shovelling. Knee a little sore but legs in general are really sore. Amazing how tough a short jog can feel when you haven't done one in a longggg time. Gotta start somewhere I guess. Another 15 minutes of shovelling and I should have the hot tub accessible again.

Running 1:00:00 [1]

Snowshoeing in absolutely awesome conditions in Spencer Gorge with the Wadd Squad (count 50%). Trek to base of Tews got changed since we couldn't cross the creek. Lots of fun. Some running. Knee is fine after yesterday. AdventureGirl! breaking trail along the Bruce (click for larger photo):

Running 25:00 [3]

Running for 16 minutes with TVP, NewKid and Superwes1000 in the DV (no strike that he is now Supersoft1000 and runs on roads and didn't show up). At 16 min, turned around and ran for another 4, walked a downill and then ran another 4 again. Knee only felt comfortable on the uphills. Fun running in the falling snow and awesome to be in the DV again. Time will tell later in the day if I over did it.

Strength 10:00 [3]

Blasting in between tobaggon runs at Princess Point with AdventureGirl! It is snowing buckets at the moment. Gonna be a great day to snowshoe in the DV tomorrow. I need to remember to wear the brace doing this stuff too though.

Skiing 1:20:00 [2]

Decent (total Nev Monster word) ski conditions at Hilton Falls. Felt very out of shape training with the very fit Sudden. Tried to hang some ribbons for the Hard Rock in 3 weeks but snow was too deep.

Saturday Mar 1, 2008 #

Running 1:30:00 [1]

Dundas Valley with Etoile. Lots of up and down. Checking out a possible middle distance course for the 2010 Ontario Champs (got start planning early eh)

Running 10:00 [3]

Lots of weezing but I did a 2, 3, and 4 minute run in the middle of the snowshoe. Forest running was OK, road running was pain free except on downhills. Going to start running 5-10 minutes 2-3 days per week.

Promising but a little scary at the same time.

Note

Three hours after running and my knee is in mega pain. Fortunately the Leafs are winning and Mats is gonna take them far in the playoffs...
