Strength 25:00 [3]
Last time training with a crappy knee (I hope).
A kinda strange feeling tonight as I stuff as much food into me before the foodless day of knee surgery tomorrow. I have now been injured for over 70 weeks. Prior to this I was probably only injured for 70 days in the previous 20 years! But why the strange feeling? Well, I have started to get used to all the extra time. No races on weekends. No 5:45am wake-ups to go running. No late nights back from work after club training. But I know that I am going to have to work hard with rehab to get the leg into good form so that I can enjoy those runs though the forest again. As such it also means that a lot of the hobbies and free time I have enjoyed the last year will suffer. I think it will be a fun challenge to get into race form again and it will hard to not want to train hard but I gotta "get the balance right" this time. The silver lining of this injury is that it forced me to stop training hard and made me realize all the other things I was missing. It is only 13 months to the next NAOC and so it will be interesting to see how I approach that.
