Raid the Rib course testing with Anvil. 1:45 in the nice stuff and 1:05 in the tough stuff.
I REALLY enjoyed this. The new 4-hour Choose your Adventure Run format allows us to do so many more cool ideas. While racers have had green, blue, black diamond and double black diamond rated CPs before, the new 'backcountry' CPs are among some of the most challenging CPs we have ever set in a race before. Partly because some (not all) are challenging navigation but also because with the ice storm damage it really does feel like the backcountry. Fallen branches and some undergrowth and saplings means you are always fighting against the terrain. Yeah, it had that Canadian Shield AR navigation feel to it (though the rock type is all wrong and there were no FDFs). I think the adventure racers are gonna love this race. I certainly enjoyed testing it even though some of the terrain is spoiled for Championship calibre orienteering now (quite sad really) but for a raid it means it is more AR like. Less pure running, tougher nav and you really will go out of your comfort zone in this race. I wouldn't want all our races to be like this and the half-raiders don't get into the super gnarly shite but again that is the beauty of the CYA format.
