Strength 20:00 [3]

TRX. Ouch. Then watched a heartbreaker of a loss for MAC. Field goal to win the game for MAC in last minute was blocked. Ouch again. :-(

Skiing 1:20:00 [3]

Skiing at Georgian Nordic on short Lynx and partridge trails. Very soft snow so tough going and not made any easier with broken skipole strap early on. Felt like spring skiing (soft snow, warm temps, a few pine needles and leaves on the trail) but alas it is November. Love skiing with trails adjacent to the rock of the Canadian Shield!

Skiing 1:20:00 [3]

First ski of the season with Etoile and AG!. Soft snow and some rain but for mid to late Nov. it was awesome. Back and forth on the georgian Nordic partridge , short Lynx and jackrabbit trails with a bunny trail to finish off. 7 months since my last ski. That must be the shortest non-skiing season ever for me. Hey this climate change stuff might not be all that bad. ;-)

Running 10:00 [3]

First snowshoe of the season at the Waddtage (since the foundation has started it is no longer a Nottage). Ran the Gula Stigen 500m in 4.21. So. much. snow.

Note

Stretching while watching MAC win Mitchell Bowl.
Vanier Cup next weekend! #goMACgo

The Nottage foundation build has been snowed out. :-(

WaddSquad bought our Georgian Nordic ski passes for the winter. Check out what the trails look like today!

Unfortunately I'm sick and rain is forecast for the weekend. Grrr.
No TNT for me tonight.

Note

Last field lab today. Woohoo I can now join Monday spin classes. It never rained for any of the 10 weekly four hour labs this autumn. But today it snowed.

Running 10:00 [3]

warm-up and pitiful cool down. Ankle was sore before and after (and really sore in the evening after race) but no issues in the race.

fun O-Cup race at Kelso on a cool course designed by DD. Made a mistake going into the first box. I missed CP6 and had run a bunch to C before realizing my mistake. I was then in catch-up mode the entire race. Pushed hard early and caught AG! and was able to stick with Mick in the forest but lost big time on the trails. Caught the ARXers in the dogbones and then passed Andrei going into the 2nd box. I had the lead for about 15 seconds when I got a big piece of barbed wire strapped around my shoelace. Had to stop to get it out and then was 10s down on Andrei again. Closed that gap a bit but the long downhill on the skihill was too dodgy on my knee. Michelson brothers skipped through the box to take 1st and 2nd and I ended up 4th. Fun race.

Nice draw prizes, good food, fun in the snow. But that was nothing compared to being to the race in the Milton Toyota ARK mobile. #swag

Running 30:00 [3]

Easy run with AG! on her 2nd loop to Sassafras Point. Hoka ankle sprain fail. :-( AG! was running strongly and smoothly. Told her to slow down often. :-)

Fun.

Strength 15:00 [3]

Core while watching MAC win Yates Cup over Guelph. With Laval losing this could be another Vanier Cup year. #goMACgo

Note
(rest day)

We have hosted 15 Raid the Hammer Adventure Runs (I have designed or co-designed 14 of them)!! The feedback after the RTH yesterday and AP, twitter and facebook has been wonderful. While I do enjoy RTH course planning I'm not sure how many more I have in me. Maybe two?. The 2016 Raid the Hammer should be something extra special. That is when orienteering turns 50 in Hamilton. Hamilton Orienteering Association (1966-1969), HKF (1969-1999), GHO (1999-2014), DGL (2014-). Would a 50km version be too much. ☺ Perhaps another Redhill Valley to Dundas Valley race. Devil’s Punch Bowl to Devil’s Elbow? Hmmmm.

Sunday Nov 9, 2014 #

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3]

Vetting to kick off the day. Tired but baloney kicked me back into running mode. This was a long day of race organization. So even more tired now. Hope people enjoyed the course. Winning time only 10 minutes off our target but the last minute and necessary changes to emc section did that and the last week of rain certainly didn't help either.

While watching MAC beat Ottawa. MAC led 18-0 then Faile came over and by the time he left it was 27-18 for Ottawa. But Faile left and MAC went on to win 42-31. MAC-Guelph next weekend in the Yates Cup (oldest still-existing football trophy in North America). #goMACgo

Note

Head Geospatial Technologist at Google is giving a talk in our Department this evening. Pity I'm going to miss it. Here is a previous talk he gave about maps.

Orienteering 50:00 [3]

Some final touches on the Raid the Hammer course. I may have thrown in some Trixie tempo or an Artaban but then again I may not have.

Running 35:00 [3]

Radial line trail with Trav (for the first half) and Oivind on a beauty of an evening. Then gave Oivind a tour of ARK.

Tuesday Nov 4, 2014 #

Cycling 1:20:00 [3]

Beauty of a morning ride with Tarno on the rail trail. We almost collided with a deer again and also had another man deer encounter.

Sunday Nov 2, 2014 #

Orienteering 2:15:00 [3]

RTH set-up with Sudden. Beauty of a day to be in the DV. We ran a little longer than this but got stuck in the Game of Thorns so badly we considered it too graphic to include in the race.

Running 30:00 [3]

no nav portion of today's course set-up.
