Swimming 20:00 [3]

Swim #1: morning swim after grooming the Gula Stigen. Really choppy water so I ended up choking on pollen laced water. 50% free, 50% breast.

Swimming 20:00 [3]

Swim #2: afternoon swim. Despite less choppy water couldn't still swim straight at all. Great temperature. 50% free, 50% breast.

Early (foggy) start to fieldwork so did some core while waiting for rest of research crew in between sampling.
(Last day of fieldwork this month so hope to get into a good training routine now).

Over 280 kids signed up for ARK fall programs in the first 24 hours! A real sign of the quality of ARK program managers, curriculum and awesome volunteers.

Running 25:00 [3]

Research cut short due to massive rain and lightening storm so went for a very easy jog on Sand Bay Road. Hip sore from yesterday's field work fall. I'm loving working on the rocky GBay coastline (commuting to research sites by motor boat is pretty cool) but these sites aren't as forgiving as peatlands when one falls over.

ARK registration kicked off at noon today and in the first 8 hours we had 234 kids signed up. SInce our spring participation total was 750 we will likely to hit 33% of our spring total within the first 12 hours after registration opened up. Wow.

Running 1:35:00 [3] 13.5 km (7:02 / km)

easy run with theGriz and Sudden on the Bruce Trail in the Devil's Punch Bowl area. Luckily theGriz ran 32km yesterday and Sudden was sick so I was able to keep the pace in zone 0.5

Someday a Devil-2-Devil trail run should be attempted. Devil's Punch Bowl to the Devil's Elbow.

MAC core and mostly stretch but at very very gentle pace. No dizziness but still a headache and back spasms (which I've never had before). Was going to go for a run with Super but he was late arriving.

The following link is an excellent article about Canadian men's soccer and whether Canada will ever qualify for a World Cup in the near future. The article really cuts up the men's national team, the focus of kids leagues and the associated general disconnect of Soccer Canada administration. Nicely captured in these two quotes:

“Winning is not important. Having fun is important. Skills are important.”

"This past week, it unveiled ... the Canadian Soccer Pathway. Over a 30-minute presentation, five speakers provided their vision. It was an almost unintelligible collection of buzzwords and MBA bafflegab. By the end of it, you had no idea what exactly you’d been told."
