climate change quote du jour #4:

"The [anthropogenic climate change] contrarians or deniers do not have a scientific leg to stand on. Their aim is to win a public-relations battle, or at least get a draw, which may be enough to stymie the actions that are needed to stabilize climate." James Hansen (NASA)

Running 1:15:00 [3]
(sick)

SMT in the DV with some woods running and tempo with Tarno, Turbo and Sudden. Legs felt good and felt smooth in the forest. Breathing not so good while recovering from the cold.

Note

Climate Change quote du jour #2:

"I have always been impressed by Canada's ability to provide moral leadership in the world....I have been surprised in recent years" - Al Gore

Climate Change quote du jour #1:

With only a few days before COP 15 in Copenhagen (hey there is even an update app for that for my iphone) I thought I would list climate change quotes each day until then. This first isn't a quote but was written by Canada's Prime Minister and makes me embarrassed to be Canadian.

"this controversial theory of climate change is based on tentative and contradictory scientific evidence and focuses on carbon dioxide, which is essential to life.....[ the Kyoto Accord is] “essentially a socialist scheme to suck money out of wealth-producing nations”. S. Harper

THOMASS: Knee was sore during warm-up but didn't bother me during race. I think I can orienteer OK when it is flat and rocky. Vitman I helped too. Jogged around the new Yaremko map with Phatty. Nice map revisions Klepperton. Thanks for the race. time includes warm-up, race, and Yaremko warm down.

Running 1:20:00 [3]
(sick)

struggled thru a half-SMT workout with the GHO gang. I was tired but was able to stay on my feet without doin a travestee.

Note

Checking out the DV permanent orienteering course with Adventure Girl! and GHOSlow and GHOSlower. Got about a 3rd complete before it got dark. Need to round up 4-5 volunteers in the early spring with some spray paint, steel wool and a permanent pen to get these ready for use again. Also need to get a saw to remove the posts we no longer plan to use...

(sick) (rest day)

Sick (and tired). Huh that has a nice sound to it. Actually very very fatigued after yesterday's easy workout. Resting to play it safe...

So McMaster has already given honourary doctorates to
their funny alumni Eugene Levy, Ivan Reitman and Martin Short
so it was only a matter of time that the hoser Dave Thomas himself
got one too to round out the comedy foursome era at MAC. Yup, today it
was official - Dr. Hoser.

So here is a Canadian Great White North geography lesson for my American friends.

Take off eh! Maybe the Canadian O team should adopt 'Aim off eh' as their new slogan.

DOUBLE RANT:

believing the NHL will work in the desert

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/red-ink-flow...

is almost as stupid as believing the Friends of Science care about the science of climate change. I guess we need to re-think basic radiation physics now according to these idiots.

Running 1:20:00 [3]

DV run with Trav, Baloney, SuperWes, Sudden, Dawg and a dog. Felt sluggish (perhaps the 3:30am wake up) so it was good to be running with a hungover fish fryer.

Today is a rest day for me. Perhaps I need to organize races more often because I got lots of training in the last week. My most in quite some time but the legs are sore so I'll skip training today and go see another Raptors game tonight. This time with Klepperton, Scotia and Chepis.

Biking from Redhill valley to Dundas valley along the escarpment vetting and watching the RTH. Great weather, great course by Sudden and fun to watch a great group of athletes suffer on the long, hilly course from one of the Hammer to the other. A couple of falls on the bike today but pain went away with a great meal and drinks followed by karaoke with Sudden, Scotia, Chepis, Dang/Dawg, Chemical Bro and Turbo at the Snooty Fox.

Saturday Nov 7, 2009 #

Note

Today is PAN AM Games announcement day watch for the Hammer...

Hamilton would play host to cycling and track and field.

interestingly Ontario has not hosted a multi-day multi-sport international games since Hamilton hosted the original Commonwealth games in 1930.

http://www.thespec.com/News/BreakingNews/article/6...

Lets hope for more good news tonight.

Could be an even bigger celebration at the GHO party tonight.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Night O in the DV with Sudden. Uncertain of the time. But I do know I trained more than Sudden tonight. "What would the World Champion do?"

Note

RANT!
Phoenix, Florida, Tampa, Atlanta, Nashville, etc.

What a joke. <80% capacity. 57% in Phoenix and thats with $15 tickets some nights.

It costs more to see Ontario University hockey than the NHL in Arizona.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/attendance

and what team draws the worst in the NHL? Buffalo. Yikes.

end of Rant.
