Orienteering 49:10 [4] 5.3 km (9:17 / km)
shoes: Adidas Durano

Urban race around Dorking.
Just ran steady, but picked it up towards the end after seeing Tracy and realising I wasn't very far ahead and was in danger of being beaten!! Survived.
Nothing too tricky at all.
Hip still pretty much pain free :)

Orienteering race 38:06 [4] 3.8 km (10:02 / km) +130m 8:34 / km
ahr:166 max:182 shoes: VJs

Womens short open 2nd leg with Jo & Gemma.
Went out in 4th, came back in 4th.
Actually, more terrain running than yesterday, & enjoyed it more, too. Hip pain free all day.

Orienteering race 1:22:50 [4] 7.6 km (10:54 / km) +280m 9:12 / km
ahr:162 max:177 (injured) shoes: VJs

So this was the race that was the target of training all year.
Had a voltarol before I started, but hip felt awkward pretty much all the way round, but loosened off completely towards the end and was pain-free when I finished.
A disappointing course that was mostly track running. One big route choice leg that I may have got slightly wrong, but there wasn't alot in it, & I did run every step.
I couldn't have done any more, the nav was spot on, but getting stuck in a brashing between 10-11 cost me a place. Still well off the podium.
Motivation to keep going needed... running 40S at the 6 day, next year BOC is in Northumberland, JK is in S Wales. Will need some better legs for the hills by then.

Note

On call
The start of being a grown up doctor with 24 hour on-calls for child protection... aaaargh!!
These will need to be rest days - not good to do the heavy breathing thing down the phone with police/social workers, or to arrive in A&E sweaty & stinky!!
