Run 36:11 [3]
shoes: vj's

Shadowing Gemma around the orange, encouraging planning ahead & control flow...the girl done good :o)

Ended up doing over 8km altogether after tracking down a couple of juniors & control collecting. Beautiful, beautiful cold & frosty day with clear blue skies.

Run 59:30 [3] 8.5 km (7:00 / km) +100m 6:37 / km
shoes: vj's

RULERS with Ray & Andy from Springslade Lodge.
Fairly early on, Ray asked if I wanted the hilly route, or the flatter one, to which I stupidly replied I was so much slower than them up hill & thru' terrain. I soon found myself running up hill thru' terrain & there was a fair bit of terrain running after that. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger...
Deserved my hot chocolate & lemon drizzle cake again.
Explored the spammed areas of Brocton Coppice :o( Amazing how disorientating it is having trees disappear...
VJs will be replaced next weekend. Dob spikes were brilliant out there today - Andy was slipping all over the place.
All the silver birch had turned into icicles & were quite beautiful, & all the long winter grass was coated in clear ice that shattered as you ran thru' it...

Run 41:05 [3] 6.2 km (6:38 / km)
shoes: Adidas Response Light

Chasers run from Ian & Sues. Mixed group run, alot of time running with Suze, but a few faster efforts around the cathedral (twice) & the long way around the lake, as well as a bit of a sprint finish.
Feeling good :o)
It was snowing gently all the way, but looked gorgeous in the streetlight by the cathedral.

Stretching 20:00 [0]

Loads better than 2 days ago. Hopefully it will translate into running improvement.

Tuesday Feb 7, 2012 #

7 PM

Circuits 35:00 [3]
shoes: Adidas Response Light

Went around with Finn, so made some effort, even on the shuttle runs!
Except missed the last half of the second circuit after being distracted by half a rugby club & needing to talk to Tracy about the CSC logistics.

8 PM

Run 34:14 [4] 5.6 km (6:07 / km)
shoes: Adidas Response Light

Started out with Simon, Simon, Steve, Mark & Jon, & lost Steve & Simon at the crossing at the bottom of the Rise because...I went on the long route!! Chatted as far as Yelverton Park with Jon, but pleased to see Mark & Simon weren't actually pulling away. Stayed with them (except Simon, who kept putting in short sprints with ease!) until the bottom of Radford Bank, but needed the loo, so left them at that point & headed back by myself. Soon after, found myself running with Simon - he didn't want me getting egged again, & we jogged in together.
Quick Route shows me slowing down quite niceley!!
First sub-10 minute mile run for years!!

Thanks to Kelvin for suffering the dinkies to let me run.

Note

Entered W35L for the British.
Must be mad! Haven't run a 35L course yet, & next year I'm a 40.... :o(
Will need all the training I can get, it's going to be physical with lots of climb & marsh, but technical, too.
More hills & long runs needed.

Stretching 20:00 [0]

All around the hips.
Missing pilates & tightening up.
Not comfortable about going for sports massage any more, either, so seeing as I'm taking it seriously (kind of, for me, anyway!!), it's down to me.

Sunday Feb 5, 2012 #

Run 43:21 [3] 3.5 mi (12:23 / mi)
shoes: vj's

The Coombe Park event was cancelled because of the snow, but seeing as there was snow & I was already changed, I went out to play, dragging Kelvin with me kicking & screaming.
He had to be back in time to take Carley to watch the football, so I thought I'd make him work hard & we went for an adjusted 6 hills route.
The snow made it slippy & hard work, so pleased to only be 20 seconds down on 2 weeks ago at the top of Broc Hill.
Beautiful out there :o)
Shoes have more or less come to the end of their useful life :o(

Swimming - I hate swimming 1:00:00 [3]

Several lengths of front crawl today, some with more style and class than others, but considering I've now had only 5 lessons, Andy deserves a medal!!
