Note
(sick)

Explanation of last nights grottiness - just feel a bit sinusey & snotty with a slight cough & sore throat...not unwell, exactly, just not exactly well.

Run 36:49 [2]
shoes: Adidas Response Light

Chasers run.
Calves felt tight from the start, so glad I cut off with Anne as outside the cadet place, the right one just screwed itself up completely & I had to stop running. Not that I was doing much more than a jog, anyway - felt rubbish, slow, heavy & uncoordinated for no apparent reason :0(

run 30-07

Maps from last week stirred a fair bit of interest in the pub after, though...

Note

Wandered around Piran for hours (with 4 swim stops!). Fantastic town, & location for previous Slovenian sprint champs. Shame we didn't have a map, but wandering was fine & it was waaaaay to hot to contemplate running (altho' Oli & Jenny were spotted finishing a run while we were having dinner, and a whole group of Portugese kids were out in O kit with maps, too, but in the hot part of the day!).

Orienteering race 1:11:27 [3] 3.9 km (18:19 / km)
shoes: vj's

Yey, best run of the week. Almost every control was just where I expected it to be, and although I was careful & hesitant, I was never mis-located. Took some route choices I never would have taken at the start of the week.
It's been a great experience, & I'd definately go to the area again.

W35 Day 5

Orienteering 24:30 [3]

W10 with Holly again.
She has done well this week, & she could have done all but the last control by herself, especially if there was no-one around on her course to distract her!
There was more off-path orienteering for her, and at the prize-giving, all the children who ran the M & W10 courses were called up & given a medal & bar of chocolate & round of applause from the crowd. There was no cumulative winner on the course as some were shadowed (allowed), & some weren't - & well done to them if they got around all week unaided (especially day 3!)

Orienteering 1:26:50 [3] 4.0 km (21:43 / km)
shoes: vj's

OO Cup stage 4.
Was going well until distraction at number 6 - was asked where I was by a Scottish bloke, & then we both relocated on a path together after missing a control first time. Except I was relocating from the path end when I was at the path bend. The bearing took me way down the rocky spur & once I worked out where I was, it was a long, bouldery climb back up...:0(

W35 Day 4

I was in good company, though - Stodge lost even more time than me & in our little group at the B&B, I had the cleanest run (or should that be walk/jog?!).

Friday Jul 24, 2009 #

Orienteering 54:20 [3] 3.1 km (17:32 / km)

OO Cup stage 3.
Short race.
Much easier technically, & beautiful running, but think Rawnsley on steroids & it gives an idea of the steepness.

W35 Day 3

Cooled down with a paddle in Godovic Lake before returning to see Stodge finish the MTBO race on the podium.

Thursday Jul 23, 2009 #

Orienteering race 1:37:24 [3] 3.9 km (24:58 / km)

OO Cup stage 2.
Rougher/rockier, & still still rock hard technically.
OK, so I can do slower minutes/km!! Hopefully no slower!!

W35 Day 2

Orienteering 45:00 [3]

W10 at the OO Cup with Holly.
W10, Slovenian style!! She did well, considering!!

Wednesday Jul 22, 2009 #

Event: OO.cup/09

Orienteering race 1:15:24 [3] 3.3 km (22:51 / km)
shoes: vj's

OO Cup day 1.
Wow, don't know if I've done slower mins/km in my life, ever, & that was relatively mistake free!
And it was only a middle race, classic tomorrow.

W35 Day 1

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: vj's

Training day for OO Cup. Scary terrain, but OK if you walk it...& if you walk it you won't come last, either. There's oodles of mistakes & time to be lost out there!!
Will be fun.

Run 39:28 [3]
shoes: vj's

Perversley pleasant run in the peeing rain on Rawnsley Kills.
Ran by myself & didn't get lost without a map!

run 16-07

Saturday Jul 11, 2009 #

Orienteering race 3:19 [4]

Cliffhanger mini-sprint around the labyrinth.
Took a second out of Stodge to take the win!!

Thursday Jul 9, 2009 #

Run 36:20 [2]
shoes: Adidas Response Light

Run with Beth - it's not often I can say I was fitter & faster, but post calf tear & surgery, I can!!!
Gossipped our way round putting the world to rights, & walked the bit in Sherbrook Valley once we came off the bike track, but jogged again once we had donr the climb back to the car park.

run 09-07

Mountain biking 1:45:00 [3]

Ride with Holly & Stodge, all of us on our own bikes for the first time ever. Went from Rifle Ranges home with a picnic lunch stop. Good fun & a nice pace.

Chasers run - summer 23:05 [3]
shoes: Adidas Response Light

Bloody hot - 25.5*C when we left the pub over 2 hours later at 9.30pm!
Got there too late to run with the group, so went for a toddle by myself - ran the short route I cycled with Hol on Sunday.
