Note
(rest day)

Legs feeling pretty good today considering yesterday's race. Recovery times are definitely improving. Just quite tired.

Rogaine race (Lindis Valley Rogaine) 12:06:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 8

With M. Unfortunately I broke him around the halfway mark (and then later kinda broke myself 'cause my feet got sore although I struggled to eat anything the entire race which was not so good). Then the last couple of hours were a disaster (would be nice if there had been just slightly more map off the side of one of the controls - less than half a centimetre is not fun in the dark - can I blame that for our downhill spiral?). Was feeling pretty miserable about it at the time and pretty worried about South Dakota but in hindsight I feel a bit better. Despite feeling pretty rotten and having sore feet I kept going at a reasonable speed and it does feel like my mental toughness has improved. Plus I think I do sort of stay tougher when I'm not racing with M 'cause I don't want to look like a wimp. Surely a tough race can only make me stronger right? Otherwise I might curl up in a corner and cry!

Road Bike (windtrainer) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

I kind of wanted to go to Wednesday night run but M hadn't got home and I was scared it was going to go down through the fallen trees in Vic Park (man I'm such a wimp! I can't believe how much I scared myself in the forest last night - all I could picture was being crushed by a falling tree!). So anyway, just rode the wind trainer. Good times.

Run 51:07 [3]
shoes: Altra Lone Peak 1.5

Because I was wimpy and lazy (and had to return library books anyway but that doesn't make me feel any less guilty!) I drove to the SOT and ran up the Harry Ell then Thompsons and then tried to go down Latters Spur but kept meeting track closed signs complete with lots of fallen trees. Got a bit too spooked out climbing through them since they didn't seem to end so ran back up then had a nice tussock bash down to the Harry Ell. Tried to take as many alternate routes back down as possible. Good to see I could still run but I am feeling a bit anxious about how much rain and stormy stuff we've had and how much damage it is doing to everything.

Riding back again. Cruel cruel wind.
