Orienteering race (SI Champs - Long) 2:03:32 [3]
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite-285

Took it all super slow because I really didn't want to have another depressing run. Struggled a bit on #1 because it was, well, so confusing but I found it before Jenny caught up to me so that was exciting for a start!! Wasn't confident in my navigation on #2 so fluffed around a bit even though I was so close to it the first time. Then struggled on #5 because it was very mysterious. I was grumpy at that stage! Stupid mistake on #6 (the completely featureless control which was a bit scary) but then the rest of it was pretty good. I just went really slow so I didn't get lost! It was so exciting to find each control and to finally finish. It was actually quite fun but I wish I could feel confident enough to actually go faster. SO SO SO hot though and my last water stop was at #10 which sucked because that was just over halfway through!!!

Orienteering race (SI Champs - Middle) 55:25 [3]
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite-285

Not in a good frame of mind right from the start and couldn't find the first control for, ummm, a ridiculously embarrassing amount of time. Then once I found it I basically proceeded to beat myself up for the rest of the course so no wonder I took so long on the rest of it. I'm not very nice to myself when I make mistakes and then it influences everything I do after that.

Michael and I went for a walk out round the first control afterwards to see what went wrong. I kind of wished I'd done what Tane did and just went and run the course again afterwards. Might have helped. Then once we were home I played lots of catching features and had a good time!

Walk 45:00 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 6

Up to SOT and back down. Probably a bit far as I felt shattered and almost just sat down on the side of the road for a rest. It's been a ridiculously long week. Can't wait for this to be over.

Rogaine race (Halswell Quarry) 2:53:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 5

I was so tired so wasn't sure if I was going to go but Clare was keen and I thought why not see if I could still function! Plus it was an excuse to leave work at a normal time for once. My brain was completely fried so Clare did most of the nav for at least the first half while I just ran to get the controls like an excited puppy. Managed to find some tiny fragment of brain to do some nav in the second half. Physically I felt great and my legs are feeling really good and strong on the hills at the moment which is awesome. I like running up things! So incredibly tired to the point of feeling nauseous afterwards though. I can't wait until 4.30pm on Monday when I can finally sleep!

Run 49:27 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7

Was at work till really late last night and it was going to be more of the same tonight so I got up early. Wasn't too hard since I'd already woken up before the alarm went off and I didn't feel too bad. It was beautiful and calm outside. Along the river and up then down the back of the hospital, up the steps of DOOM and then home. Feeling quite strong and bet my last time by over 2 minutes without any real effort. Nice.
