Orienteering 1:45:00 [2]
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 285

Route choice, attackpoints and exit directions. Was feeling a little jaded so had trouble getting myself focused to start with. The exit directions activity was real cool.

Pottering round a course to practice what we'd learnt. Did my usual trick of wandering in circles in the control circle at #1 only to find I was being spied on by Nick! Was mostly okay afterwards apart from #12 where I took a compass bearing and wandered a bit far to the right despite being convinced I knew exactly where I was.

Orienteering 1:15:00 [2]
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 285

Relocation exercise. Was a little freaked by the concept of being dropped blind somewhere and having to relocate and get yourself to a particular control but it was pretty easy...perhaps it was just the places I was dropped. The activity where we had to work out exactly where we were didn't quite go so well! Funny that our whole group struggled so much! I should have trusted my initial judgement...

Control picking exercise. A couple that I struggled with but not too bad on the whole. The low vis really makes you think.

Compass work. I suck! It's pretty hard to pick a feature to run to in the low vis and my ability to run in a straight line is not good as I tended to ignore everything else around even when there were lovely obvious features that should have made the controls easy. Something I need to practice.

Run hills 1:11:01 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

Round the outer dirt track then up the track to the summit of OTH and down the road three times by which the track had turned to a slippery slide so the third summit was a little tricky! Set out stiff and feeling crap...came back feeling great. Let's see how long it lasts! Ankle is a little tender but it's okay.

Rowing Machine warm up/down 8:44 [4] 2.0 km (4:22 / km)

Not my best time but pretty good especially considering how I was feeling and how slow the first 1000 metres was so I really must have pushed it in the last half (especially the last 500 when Lincoln told me to hurry up which I thought was a bit rich coming from him since he only does 500 metres for his warmup...wimp).

Gym (weights and core) 1:05:00 [3]

Not happy. Was going through my program with Pip and her and Alex decided I couldn't lift anything (not even a little 2kg weight) for at least the rest of the week 'cause my wrist was looking too swollen. Plus they said I'll have to strap half my bloody arm for at least the next couple of weeks for weights, climbing and biking and ice both wrists at least once a day. That plus having to strap my knuckles for climbing means I'm gonna look like a freak! Did NOT make my day (which already started out crap after Keisha woke up every damn hour last night and the flatmates made a fair amount of noise with her outside). Anyway, so we did ridiculous amounts of leg stuff and abs instead and I sulked.

Orienteering race (Night Streets - Botany) 1:10:53 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

Cruising round with Jan's friend Shani. She loved it. Didn't really break a sweat though but her company was nice.

Run warm up/down (treadmill) 20:00 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

10 minute warmup, 10 minute warm down. Yawn.

Run intervals (treadmill) 20:00 [4]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

2 sets of 3 minutes, 4 sets of 2 minutes fast with 1 minute slow inbetween. Mostly on a slight incline except for first and last ones. Felt pretty good actually so should probably have been upping the speed a bit...next time.

Gym (core and stretches) 15:00 [2]

Peloton (Spin) class intervals 45:00 [5]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Good but thoroughly exhausting class as usual. Didn't stretch after the mtbing yesterday and definitely paid for it today in the hills.

My wrist is really starting to ache again (on the inside of the wrist which is different to how it's ached in the past). Not sure what's causing it to act up again. Maybe the climbing? Will see how I get on with it tonight.

Gym (core and stretches) 20:00 [3]

Climbing 2:30:00 [3]

Good session. Avoided the larger overhangs to ease the pressure on my wrist which was probably a wise move 'cause it ached enough as it was. Technically climbing well but it's real tough work. Normally get about halfway up the big walls before feeling knackered...especially on that mental one where I needed to be, umm, perhaps about 4cm taller (well, my arms needed to be that much longer or something 'cause I couldn't brace my feet enough to push up that last little bit). Definitely won the competition to see who could spill the most blood though...think I'm going to have to start strapping my knuckles like a boxer!
