Orienteering race (Multiday - Stillwater) 1:44:24 [3] ***** 4.2 km (24:51 / km)
(injured) shoes: Jalas Black FLX

It was a jungle...enough said (why I didn't go out to the track and follow it round for the second long leg like I did the first time I have no idea but it wasn't fun). Got a bee sting on the back of my thigh coming out of #1 which throbbed the whole way round and may have had an impact on me feeling a bit light headed.

Orienteering race (Multiday - Hedley Road) 1:21:41 [3] **** 4.9 km (16:40 / km)
(injured) shoes: Jalas Black FLX

My orienteering is getting steadily worse through the whole carnival! The ankle was tender, I was tired and nervous and half the time I definatly wasn't thinking about orienteering...too much stuff going on for this right now and I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to this being all over.

Orienteering race (SS - One Tree Hill) 39:27 [3] *** 4.5 km (8:46 / km)
(injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 3

A nice run round One Tree Hill...my legs certainly didn't want to run though! Nothing too tricky (helpful that I know this map pretty well anyway) which was good 'cause my brain felt a bit like mush.

Orienteering race (Multiday - Aramiro) 1:02:13 [3] ***** 3.13 km (19:53 / km) +105m 17:01 / km
(injured) shoes: Jalas Black FLX

Officially my worst run so far this competition. I couldn't even make it to the first control without completely running off course! To #9 I decided to cross over the top of the hill and down to the track to the junction and then make my way into the river valley. I never found the track junction and nothing seemed to add up so I decided to go down into the river valley and eventually stumbled on #11 which was such a relief 'cause at least I knew where I was!

Orienteering race (Loop Race - Kairangi) 47:02 [4] **** 4.6 km (10:13 / km)
(injured) shoes: Jalas Black FLX

This felt like a bit of a headless chicken race where you latched on to the leader of your loop and dragged yourself over hills after them in a big group. The heat and general lack of sleep and exhaustion didn't help either! The continuous contouring round the steep slopes was not good on my ankle and I didn't exactly enjoy getting shocked by the electric fences but it was still good fun, especially chasing people on my course through the last couple of controls and into the finish.

Orienteering race (Sprint - Waikato Uni) 21:02 [4] **** 2.4 km (8:46 / km)
(injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 3

This was clearly not going to be a fast race for my considering the ankle but I think I managed pretty well. Navigation was pretty good except for #12 where I came out of 11 at 90 degrees off and ended up in the spectator area. I lost my nerve and couldn't work out where I was on the map for a good 90 seconds. Ah well, it couldn't all go to plan! Great course on a great map.
