Thought about rogaining and then thought about running and it all didn't seem like a good plan so dragged Michael out for a walk instead...bumped into lots of crazy rogainers. Might have even been a control near the end of our drive which was weird.

With Viv, Dave, Lara, Sara and the kids. Absolutely freezing. So cold in fact that Lara and I had to do a quick blat in the middle to attempt to warm up. Those Prince kids are amazing.

Trying not to push too hard which is quite hard when it is quite the monster climb. Took it super easy on the way down after seeing a guy tumble and then start screaming in pain (rolled ankle I think but he didn't want us to stop and there was a marshel really close). It sure was skiddy and then slippery underfoot.

Mt Pleasant streets of death. So much road running which really wasn't that fun although it was a good course...not that I navigated or planned well at all. Why was I so lazy and just followed people at the start as they were clearly wrong? I quite liked the map memory bit you could do at the end although I didn't allow nearly enough time and have a horrific memory!

From home up Huntsbury and down Rapaki. After 2 nights of not so ideal sleep this might not have been my most genius idea but I might have struggled to run at all by the time work finished. Struggling to keep running up the hill but did it. Quite happy to be able to do that. Maybe I might survive HOW? Still not sure...pretty anxious about the whole thing.

Day 2 of date weekend...from Akaroa around the bays to Wainui then up the big bad Bossu Road and into the dark cloud before headong down Kinloch to Little River and too much lunch. Rail trailing ot back home again. Feeling okay. Bossu Road was exciting and we had beautiful weather round the harbour.

Date weekend ride with M on the tandem up Dyers into the wet cloud then down the other side and round to Purau. Over to Port Levy then Pigeon Bay then up to and along the Summit Road and down to Akaroa and a warm shower. Tough work and got really cold so was wearing a crazy amount of layers at one point. Met another crazy bikepacker out on an adventure and another guy who recognised is from Anzac day and wanted our photo. He rides a tandem with his wife. We shall have to get in touch!

Up the Harry Ell and round the front of the Sugar Loaf to the far side then round the traverse and down Latters Spur. Such a nice calm morning with the most amazing moon. Attempting to take it easy right from the start so I didn’t hit the wall too fast which worked pretty well. Managed to run/jog the whole way without stopping which felt pretty cool right now. Yay! Maybe mornings are good right now as I haven’t gotten myself tired from surviving the day...

From work up Rapaki and down Huntsbury. Got told by some guys I passed on the way up to slow down. Why do they always say that? Perhaps they should speed up instead or something. Felt okay but deeply tired afterwards.

Long Bay reserve out to the river via all the detours and back. Started off feeling okay but that lasted about 10 minutes before the tiredness returned but was stubborn and pushed a bit hard for too long. Had to walk the last bit on the flat back to the car. Pains didn't seem to properly return nut could feel it sort of sitting there waiting to strike. Need to be more kind to myself.

Partway up Farm Track and down Rapaki and Rogers with Clare. Started far too fast (I didn't want to let Clare down) and died about a 3rd of the way up so was desperately struggling to keep up/catch up. But felt a bit better than last night.

On the tandem with M from work up Rapaki (via home to pick up the front light and feed the ravenous Molly Cat) then along the tops out to Godley Head, down to Sumner and whizzy whizz home. Tired and had the stomach pain back again tonight...yay! But feeling a little teeny bit stronger and didn't die so much every time we had to stand up so that is progress.
