Note
(injured)

Have progressed to a moon boot. Not sure I can move any faster (might actually be slower!) than on crutches...
My ankle and foot area is quite a beautiful sight. Such gorgeous colours!

Note
(injured)

Getting quite good at balancing on one leg. Not getting much better at crutches yet but it's early days!

Orienteering (Hogs Back Middle) 1:15:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#4)

Kind of disasterous all the way to number #5 then, when I thought it couldn't get any worse, fell over and did something to my ankle. Couldn't have chosen a further away spot really! A long cold hobble back. In retrospect perhaps I should have gotten rescued instead although I'm not sure what options there would have been. Just grateful for Jenni being there when I fell to help me work out the best way back.

Rather amusing that Riki, Emily and I had been discussing what you'd do in an emergency on the drive in and whether a piercing scream might be more effective in convincing people you needed help than blowing the whistle.

Wind trainer fun. Too much of a tired pansy to go outside and get wet.

Rogaine race (Halswell Quarry) 1:56:10 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#4)

Rogaining with Lara at Halswell Quarry. Can't believe I got my legs to work as well as they did. Fortunately Lara was also feeling tired so we weren't too badly matched. Route was okay until nearer the end when we should have skipped a couple in order to get a couple of better ones but yeah, not bad. Had fun though.

Road Bike 55:00 [3]
shoes: Shimano WM64

M had my bike out when I got home and he convinced me I needed to go for a spin. Hit the wall as hadn't eaten enough and was quite tired so was slow and had to stop a few times and die silently while M did some intervals. Can't wait for more riding.

6 PM

Run 37:25 [2]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#2)

Grovel/crawl up the valley. Surprised at how well my legs functioned as long as I could take small steps!

Run race (Crater Rim) 2:47:59 [4] 27.4 km (6:08 / km) +1165m 5:03 / km
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#4)

Thought I'd give the Crater Rim race a try as the start was less than 10 minutes wander from my house and I am not very good at running races. Hot and brutal would be the best description. The plan was to head out slow and keep going and push it nearer the end. The pace for the first 10km felt really really good and like I wasn't pushing but yeah, to the kiwi took an hour so I must have been motoring. Tried to reign it back for the next section and started to feel like my legs were getting a bit empty not too long after the turnaround which wasn't great. Ended up having to walk a fair amount of the climb after the kiwi but tried to do it as briskly as possible. Legs were shattered. Lungs were fine. Then it was the most brutal descent ever. Rapaki sucks. And a stumble into the finish. Still pretty happy though. I feel like my legs just needed some more distance with a bit of speedwork in them, especially going downhill. 4th woman. Was 3rd at the turnaround but I knew I couldn't hold off the lady behind me as she looked like she'd smash the descents. I think she ended up only being 2 or 3 minutes ahead in the end though so not too bad.

Run 46:54 [2]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#4)

Up the Harry Ell and down Latters Spur and all that jazz. Making sure just to cruise with a bit of faster stuff on Thompsons Track. Feeling SO much better this morning.

Wednesday Oct 12, 2016 #

5 PM

Run 42:45 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#2)

Quick little jog up the valley and back home again before the work function. Feeling a bit sluggish but turns out I was going fairly fast. M was awesome and picked me up from work on the tandem and dropped me as the start of the track <3

Tuesday Oct 11, 2016 #

6 PM

Road Bike 30:00 [3]
shoes: Shimano WM64

Out to Old Tai Tapu Rd from work to watch the TT. Was intending to cruise but then Nick Ross appeared next to me and was chatting away so I had to keep up with him which did made for a bit harder work than intended but company is nice.
7 PM

Road Bike 34:00 [3]
shoes: Shimano WM64

Back home again chasing after M. Feeling tired and hungry.

Cruising up the valley and then up to the top of Witch Hill then down Farm Track and into Dry Bush with Nick. Legs feeling a a bit crappy today.

Saturday Oct 8, 2016 #

10 AM

Road Bike 1:45:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

With M but on my new bike up Mt Pleasant and down to Sumner. Very slowly descending with lots of stops. Pretty sore by the bottom but also pretty excited. I do need another lower gear or something though...

Friday Oct 7, 2016 #

6 AM

Run 46:18 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#2)

A very wet jog from the SOT up Latters Spur and down the Harry Ell. Thought about going further but then the wind picked up and I became even more of a drowned rat.

Wednesday Oct 5, 2016 #

6 PM

Run 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#2)

With the gang up Bowenvale valley then along the tops and down the zig zag and old Bowenvale. My legs felt shattered so was a struggle but I guess it's going to be like this until the end of TT season so I better learn to suck it up again!

Tuesday Oct 4, 2016 #

5 PM

Road Bike warm up/down 30:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

From work through the traffic and out to Old Tai Tapu. Sort of feeling a bit of dread thinking about the TT!
6 PM

Road Bike race (Old Tai Tapu TT) 25:27 [3] 16.0 km (1:35 / km)
shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Here we go again. First TT of the season and it was tough (surprise surprise). Pushed hard even when I really really wanted to stop. M was pushing a slightly higher gear than I really would have liked most of the return journey but sometimes you just have to man up, especially when you have no say in the matter!

Joe is FAST. No surprises there I guess.
7 PM

Road Bike warm up/down 32:00 [3]

Home again. SO hard. Pretty much had nothing to give from around about the Dyers Pass roundabout. So hungry, so empty.

Monday Oct 3, 2016 #

6 PM

Run 50:07 [3]
shoes: Merrell All Out Charge

Bit of a jog to loosen up from home up Albert Tce to the hut thingy then down Farm Track with a bit of a detour to get home. Massive headache from too much rich brownie at afternoon tea but the run might have actually helped. Legs took some time to come to a more acceptable feeling.

Sunday Oct 2, 2016 #

9 AM

Road Bike 4:20:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Cruisingt on the tandem with M out to lunch in Tai Tapu...via a rather long detour. Then we had to do some detours on the way home too. Lovely day.

Saturday Oct 1, 2016 #

9 AM

Run long 2:40:00 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#2)

With Nick up Bowenvale and adventuring along the tops to the Bellbird and back. Feeling pretty sluggish going up the hill but once at the top I felt pretty good. I think I might have pushed Nick quite hard and quite a bit longer than he imagined although I did get him running in front after a while so I didn't get too far ahead! So nice to have company and the weather was glorious.

Pretty happy with my running at the moment. Seem to be much better at keeping on going for longer even if I'm still no faster than a snail.
2 PM

Road Bike 46:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

New bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So exciting! On a little ride out to Ferrymead and back with M. Feeling a little wobbly and unsure but it is so exciting! Need to stock up on all sorts of tyres now :-P
