Peloton (Spin) class intervals 45:00 [5]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Good, tough class. Thighs still tight so the hills were harder work than usual (and they're always hard work!). For future reference I should go to bed a lot earlier on a Sunday night so I'm not so dead in the morning.

Gym (core and stretches) 25:00 [3]

Orienteering race (OY5 - Willets Mission) 1:27:08 [3] 7.0 km (12:27 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 285

Went a bit slower than usual and therefore orienteered a whole lot better! Went mostly okay apart from a couple of controls, one where I got distracted by someone else and went off course and another where I must have been in the circle walking round in, well, circles but not quite in the right place. Beautiful forest, beautiful weather and I really enjoyed the course.

Run 36:44 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

Cameron piked on me at the last minute but I decided to head out anyway. Feeling stiff so just took it nice and slow. Round the outer dirt track...few more temporary fences up since yesterday so there was a little bit of an obstacle course! Beautiful weather but quite humid.

Yoga 1:00:00 [2]

Hard work 'cause I was so tight! Feel better now though...

Run 57:18 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

Round the outer dirt track of OTH and 2 summits (up dirt track and down road). Died but the morning was so gorgeous so I was pretty determined! Just feeling really tight...this time it was my thighs which I'm guessing is from gym yesterday. Also not enough sleep by a long shot but this time it's my own fault. Now that I'm actually sleeping sort of okay I should actually try and make the most of it!

Climbing 3:00:00 [3]

With the usual crew. Bloody hard work...drew more blood again. We are getting better though...

Rowing Machine warm up/down 8:41 [4] 2.0 km (4:21 / km)

Argh! This was tough! Was resigned to not catching my time from last week after the first 1000 metres so must have found some final reserves buried somewhere in the last half to match the time. It's certainly one way to wake yourself up in the morning!

Gym (weights and core) 1:15:00 [3]

The usual...increased a few weights though.

Tuesday Aug 25, 2009 #

Run 51:47 [3] 10.0 km (5:11 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

Running home from work. The backs of my legs were still really tight but felt a bit better as I warmed up although not enough to get any pace up. Glad I wore a t-shirt 'cause it was real humid out this evening. Managed to get home just as the rain came down...expert timing!

Peloton (Spin) class intervals 45:00 [5]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

A bit torturous for first thing on a Monday but it was good all the same. The back of my thighs are pretty tight possibly from yesterday's run though. Definitely haven't managed to catch up on the sleep missed over the weekend either 'cause I feel extremely tired. Perhaps I should stick to being a nana.

Gym (core and stretches) 20:00 [3]

Really tight down the back of my legs...

Sunday Aug 23, 2009 #

Run hills 1:01:34 [3] 11.0 km (5:36 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

Round the outside dirt track of OTH then up to the summit via the dirt track and down the road twice then the long way back adding the extra climb. Felt surprisingly okay considering extreme lack of sleep and a sore back and neck from lying funny all night. Such beautiful weather and I almost went for a third time up to the summit but thought the better of it which was wise 'cause I felt rather dead by the time I got home.

Run warm up/down (run/walk) 10:00 [1]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

Note

Must have been tired as I fell asleep in the garden while I was supposed to be on guard duty (stopping the cat from attacking the puppy and vice versa). Hmmmm...

Saturday Aug 22, 2009 #

Yoga 1:00:00 [2]

Note

Spent the afternoon chasing and playing with the dogs at the kennel and then racing round after Keisha at home. She tired me out! Awww :)

Peloton (Spin) class intervals 45:00 [5]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Quite possibly the hardest class ever! The sprint was earlier than usual so we finished with 2 long, hard climbs but I'd already wiped myself out on the sprint so it was a painful and exhausting finish!

Squash 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 3

With Anna again. We had a good ball which helped but we were definitely better than last week! Awesome fun but we didn't play for so long 'cause the weather outside was too nice to be wasted...

Walk 20:00 [1]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 3

With Anna up Mt Hobson in the gorgeous sunshine :)

Rowing Machine warm up/down 8:40 [4] 2.0 km (4:20 / km)

Wow! Started super fast, slowed down after the first 1000 metres then put in a last ditch attempt in the last 400 metres when I realised it could be possible to break my previous fastest time. Helps having a little anger and excitement floating around!

Gym (weights and core) 1:15:00 [3]

Perhaps a little too much talking and not quite enough doing! I need to learn the art of doing the exercises and counting the reps in my head at the same time as holding a conversation. I am not a natural multi-tasker.

Climbing 2:30:00 [3]

With the usual crew. Intense and I even managed to draw blood (more than once even...somehow managed to cut open my finger)! Spent a lot of time hanging off the wall going "what the hell?" but am definitely improving. Was feeling pretty weak but technically I've definitely improved so lack of strength doesn't make quite as much impact as it did to start with. We were pretty buggered by the end though which was pretty obvious when Andy came over to us near the end and suggested a climb and we were like, we did that last week...then after about 10 minutes of debate we realised that we'd done it as our second climb!

Note
(rest day)

Yay :)

Tuesday Aug 18, 2009 #

Run 56:46 [3] 11.2 km (5:04 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

Felt like death when I started out 'cause I could still feel my lunch digging a hole in my stomach, and my legs felt stiff. Felt a little better as I went along but was feeling quite hot which was weird. Pace felt slow but was pretty good especially considering the past week. Great to get home and have dinner cooked for you though!

Peloton (Spin) class intervals 45:00 [5]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Okay, so something a little bit more gentle would have been better but didn't sleep and was in need of burning off some anger.

Gym (core and stretches) 20:00 [3]

Sunday Aug 16, 2009 #

Orienteering race (North Shore Rogaine) 2:56:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

With Sandra. We pretty much just cruised round at a good pace and had a yarn! Was awesome fun. Some stunning scenery and views to be had. Felt pretty wasted afterwards though especially as we'd been cutting it pretty fine to get the last controls along the waterfront so had to push it to get back.

Saturday Aug 15, 2009 #

Yoga 1:00:00 [2]

I SO needed this today...am feeling rather in agony after yesterday's stupidity! At least I am a little bit closer to functioning after today's class.

Friday Aug 14, 2009 #

Run 46:11 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

Round the dirt track and up to the summit. Was a bit drizzly and muddy but not too bad. Legs are feeling tired from yesterday but it was so nice to be outside running in the quiet of the morning...and to be running in daylight!

Squash 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 3

With Anna. First time I've ever attempted squash but it was awesome fun! I was surprised! Obviously I sucked but she was pretty new too so it wasn't too bad. We got some fairly good (for us) rallies going in the end though. We also had the hookups so we got into the courts for free!! Definitely keen for another go.

Climbing 3:00:00 [3]

And just to cap off the day of death...how about some climbing?! With the usual crew (Chris and Haydn). We are definitely getting better. Was pretty tough work and I managed to get some more gnarly bruises and scrapes. My fingers feel a bit numb now.

Thursday Aug 13, 2009 #

Rowing Machine warm up/down 8:42 [4] 2.0 km (4:21 / km)

Oh yeah! My best time on the rower at the gym (only surpassed by 1 second on the machine in Queenstown). Didn't even feel like I was totally killing myself. Bit dead afterwards though but that's normal!

Gym (weights and core) 1:10:00 [3]

Tuesday Aug 11, 2009 #

Run 56:00 [3] 10.5 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

Running home from work. First time back to the new flat and first time by myself all the way. Was good fun and I felt better than I expected considering I'd been feeling a bit sick most of the afternoon. Had planned the route to be exactly 10km but had a memory lapse on which street I was supposed to take so ended up being a little longer.

Monday Aug 10, 2009 #

Peloton (Spin) class intervals 45:00 [5]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Was a bit of a rough class for first thing on a Monday morning! Felt pretty good though. Perhaps I'm finally recovering...although I could still do with more sleep than I'm getting (but it's a lot better than it was).

Gym (core and stretches) 20:00 [3]

Sunday Aug 9, 2009 #

Orienteering race (OY5 - Woodhill) 1:09:09 [3] 6.8 km (10:10 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 285

Mostly okay apart from screwing up a nice, easy control (#10) where I just wasn't paying enough attention. Felt good and the forest was beautiful. I loved the short legs amongst all the knolls at the end - that was good fun.

Saturday Aug 8, 2009 #

Run 54:00 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

Cruisey run round OTH with Cameron - the dirt track and a loop round the road. He was a bit slower than usual and totally died in the last half and it was tough to keep him moving. We managed a good sprint from the park back to my place at the end though.

Walk 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 3

Round OTH and up to the summit with Kiri. She'd never been to the summit before. Had eaten a little too much waffle beforehand so wasn't feeling that great but the day was so beautiful.

Friday Aug 7, 2009 #

Peloton (Spin) class intervals 45:00 [4]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Tough class this morning. Legs survived better than expected as they were pretty tight from yesterday. Unfortunately the right pedal came loose on my shoe in the sprint so had to pull back to keep my foot from slipping out.

Thursday Aug 6, 2009 #

Rowing Machine warm up/down 8:49 [4] 2.0 km (4:25 / km)

Tough work especially trying to have a conversation through part of it! Arms and shoulder felt pretty dead afterwards.

Gym (weights and core) 1:00:00 [3]

Arms and abs were tough, legs were okay...but I noticed they're covered in bruises (especially the knees) from climbing on Tuesday. Was in a good mood this morning for once.

Wednesday Aug 5, 2009 #

Run 49:40 [3] 9.2 km (5:24 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

From the gym round Remuera...same as my usual route except up Portland Rd instead of Victoria Ave. I always forget how steep that road is. My shoulder was aching after 5 minutes which wasn't good and I felt a bit sluggish but it was okay. Felt great to be outside in the quiet of the morning though.

Tuesday Aug 4, 2009 #

Climbing 2:30:00 [3]

At Extreme Edge with Chris and his army flatmate Haydn who showed us how it's done! Perhaps not the best idea we decided to tackle an overhang on climb 3 'cause my body was dead after that (okay, it was dead once I was about a metre up that 3rd climb trying to hoist myself over the damn overhang!). Got a fair amount of bruising on my knees and shins from falling and slamming into the wall. Good fun though. Andy was there too which was real awesome as I haven't seen him in ages. Good to see him looking so well.

Monday Aug 3, 2009 #

Peloton (Spin) class intervals 45:00 [4]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Didn't sleep well, woke up way too early and felt too anxious and awake to attempt to get back to sleep so got up for class. Body didn't feel too bad at all really which was rather surprising since I felt a bit achey yesterday. No doubt it will all kick in again as usual later today.

Gym (Core and Stretches) 25:00 [3]

What was supposed to be a gentle 10 minute thing turned into something way more exhausting when Alex came over and changed all my core exercises to make them way harder. Damn it.

Sunday Aug 2, 2009 #

Orienteering race (Waiuku Rogaine) 2:50:15 [3]
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 285

Cruising round with Alice and Danny and trying to get them to do some of the navigation too. Was good fun and a nice slow pace which was good considering how I have been feeling of late. Remembered to drink lots.

Saturday Aug 1, 2009 #

Yoga 1:00:00 [2]

Felt a little dizzy but okay. Need to drink more.
