Climbing (indoor - TR) 2:00:00 [3]
shoes: Five Ten Anasazi Verde

At the Roxx with Michael. Started off badly but got better. But my grip strength (and general strength) just feels gone so I thought I better start fixing that by climbing one of the long overhangs that go on forever. Got almost to the end of the overhang before I had to stop (and I only really had to stop because it got tricky there too). I was quite chuffed! But then I could barely climb anything after that...work needs to be done!

Strength and Conditioning 35:00 [2]

Feeling like jelly by the end!

Run 1:23:13 [3] 13.4 km (6:13 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 5

Wednesday night run from SOT with Tane, Andy and Michael...although Andy and Michael abandoned us after about half an hour. Luckily Tane was feeling up to going a bit further so I had some company. Then I left him at SOT and ran the rest of the way home. Awesome evening. Summer is going to be amazing.

Walk (Walk/Jog) 52:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 6

The usual but had a scout around at the top of Holliss Ave to see if there was another way through and the same from the bottom of Longhurst (I always think of it as Longhaul). Nope, not without cutting through an empty section and then maybe up someone's driveway. Feeling so good to be outside in the sunshine. Super fast walking the uphills and jogging the flats and downs (except the super steep ones at the end).

Run 50:12 [3] 9.5 km (5:17 / km)
(sick) shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7

Home from work. Sunny and actually quite hot! Decided to take a different route from normal and go up the hill rather than along the river to get home. Had a rather fast pace for the first 6km or so to the river but felt really ill by the time I hit the stairs. Not exactly unexpected considering "things" but a little frustrating 'cause I was going so well! Pretty awesome though. Today I learnt that Lord Byron had a pet bear at university because he was told he couldn't have a pet dog. Well, I learnt a few other things but I forgot all of them except that!

Note
(sick)

Nice walk along the Kaikoura peninsula in the freezing cold wind with Michael. A bit leisurely to be logged but very lovely all the same :)
Cold still lingering but on its way out now (like the tide...although hopefully not coming back in!).

Crewing for Marquita, Erin and Debs at Spring Challenge. They were completely awesome and I'm so proud of them!!! Plus I think Michael and I were a very good support crew (surely we can take a tiny bit of credit right?!! They had super quick transitions...) and it was actually heaps of fun. Still feeling pretty sick though but in much better spirits.
11 AM

Run 55:00 [3]
(sick) shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 5

From CP3, which I think was at Jubilee Flat, to Whiteheads Clearing and back. The track just wound it's way along the river with the odd steeper incline. Pretty awesome location and beautiful weather and it felt like half the support crews were out on this track enjoying the sunshine. Still feeling pretty shattered (a 4am start never really helps when you're already dead) but it still felt awesome.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Probably should have stayed home from work and slept but oh well. Got to leave early to head off to Blenheim for the weekend and I felt in a much better headspace by the time we got there.

Note
(sick)

Bad bad day. Had to stay late at work too and felt so ill that I was glad Michael stayed and biked home with me. I would say it was a rest day but it didn't feel restful in the slightest!

Road Bike 1:00:00 [3]
(sick) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Out to McLeans Island from work with Clare. Nice to have some company for the long open roads but there were lots of angry car drivers today. Silly people. It was probably quicker than an hour but who knows. Timing things is overrated.
8 PM

Orienteering 43:00 [3]
(sick) shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 5

Bringing in controls after NightNav. SO cold - I was wearing a singlet, merino polypro and a polar fleece and I was still cold. Got lost looking for the control by the big green patch. This map is so ridiculously vague that it's ridiculous.

Run 41:23 [3]
(sick) shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7

Still got a cold but wasn't feeling too bad (apart from stupid nose and throat). Along the river then up the hill a bit and home. Got lost down the end of some dead-end street where there looked like there was a track (well, I had seen a street-O map and the other end of the track) but I never really found it so went bashing around until I ended up down by the culvet and had to run up again to get back to familiar territory. New shoes are awesome.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Just the usual biking to and from work. Got rained on coming home. Feeling sick but Michael's lemon honey drinks are amazing.

Sunday Sep 18, 2011 #

2 PM

Run 2:30:00 [2]
(sick) shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 5

Up Mt Thomas with Michael. Up the valley and down the spur. Ran most of the way up and felt okay for being sick but lost all of my energy by the top so we walked most of the downhill. Had to stop and die a few times too. I'm not good at being sick! Still patches of snow up near the top but it was nice and warm.

Walk 1:30:00 [2]
(sick) shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 5

Woke up feeling sick so it was probably good I didn't go mtbing with the others but I was still pretty grumpy about it. Anyway, went for a walk with Michael from the top of Mt Pleasant Road over to Evans Pass and back. Super freezing cold and windy. I should have worn gloves!

Walk 50:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7

The usual super fast walk up our street then along the track by the side of the forest to the dog park and then back down. Jogging most parts of the downhill. A bit damp.

Run 41:30 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 6

Along the river then up. Down by the hospital then up Valley Road and the stairs of DOOM and home again. Died on the stairs. They are cruel and mean and horrible! I guess that's how they got their name! Felt slow but turns out I wasn't really that slow at all.

Road Bike 1:00:00 [2]

Cruising out to McLeans Island from work. I didn't get lost this time. Yay!
8 PM

Orienteering 30:00 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 5

Bringing in controls at NightNav and getting rather confused in the greeny completely featureless area where I was supposedly looking for a clearing. Was quite amusing. Also, had to jump to get a couple of the controls...I bet you Tim put those ones out... SO cold so it was good to be moving but my hands froze too much to hold the map properly!

Climbing at The Roxx with Michael and Joe.

Run 50:00 [3]

Tigger run with Michael (he was feeling sick so started walking partway round so I ran back and forth...Mum calls this a tigger run 'cause I used to do them with her sometimes). Got introduced to the stairs of DOOM. They are cruel.
