Rollerskiing 1:12:42 intensity: (32:23 @1) + (29:12 @2) + (8:38 @3) + (2:29 @4) 10.49 mi (6:56 / mi) +165m 6:36 / mi
ahr:133 max:173

And out on a second really nice morning for a specific strength rollerski. Moved it on up to sets of three of all the standard exercises, which, to record at least once a year, are: 1) triceps only, 2) single-stick, 3) skate no poles, 4) double pole 5) V2 (or, later on, ski-o skate). 1-2-4 are arm/core, 3 is legs, 5 is everything.

Had one bad dog encounter, a little thing that came at me, barking pretty ferociously. One of my pole tips hit something soft once, I really hope not the dog too hard, but the tips are pretty dull at least. I'm surprised after that the dog came after me a second time on my way back. Jeez!
4 PM

Rowing 45:35 intensity: (25 @0) + (45:10 @1) 4.27 mi (10:40 / mi) +1m 10:40 / mi
ahr:109 max:121

A last little row, around many islands... hands a bit beaten up from the row yesterday, rxc this morning and then continuing to row. Hard to get the HR up to workout level, but not worrying too much about it!

Then, oodles of work closing up the cottage for the winter, including a massive (and not really victorious) battle against a tempermental washing machine. Ian wins for figuring out it only worked with the warm water setting, in addition to figuring out a magic trick for opening the gosh-darn door.

Running 1:24:28 intensity: (6 @0) + (3:11 @1) + (1:16:53 @2) + (4:18 @3) 10.12 mi (8:21 / mi) +132m 8:01 / mi
ahr:141 max:162

And up at the cottage! Nice long run with Ian, out the standard route. Worrying body things felt ok, no ankle issues, no toe issues, woo! I probably do need to be working more on ankle strengthening now. All my flamingo exercises from back in the days I was having previous issues with front-crunching...
5 PM

Rowing 54:13 intensity: (6 @0) + (53:55 @1) + (12 @2) 4.98 mi (10:53 / mi) +1m 10:53 / mi
ahr:104 max:131

And time for the approximately yearly row! Good to get out in the scull. I went around Boyd Island with a few loops back to make sure Ian in the kayak knew where to go.

The biggest problem with rowing is you really can't easily wave back at folks because you need to keep grip of the oars. Ah well, wasn't trying to be rude, just didn't want to flip!!

Rollerskiing 1:08:00 intensity: (19:42 @1) + (29:05 @2) + (4:54 @3) + (14:19 @4) 11.38 mi (5:59 / mi) +353m 5:27 / mi
ahr:141 max:175

And last little rollerski with Alex on River Rd. We opted for intervals, 4 x the backside of the double bump hill. A really good session to do, and oodles better with company, we switched leads each interval, and each became quicker, not bad, not bad!

Woo, corn maze redux! An idea hatched over Monday's dinner I believe. Was great to be back at Mike's, things were as tricky as ever, really good fun!

Otherwise a busy day of erranding. Tomorrow = the final pack + depart. Yikes-a-roni!

Last Noho 5k

Ug. Slowpoke. Oodles (a minute) slower than my next slowest time on this course, this year. I am actually a bit perplexed that I've lost quite so much fitness. Ok, so ankle has definitely thwarted good training since WOC, but thinking about it, I've done 4 quality sessions- track 400s, Amity hills, 10k, 3 mi 'threshold', which you might think would stave off the totally loosing running ability. But I guess not. Or I'm getting sick, which would actually be a happier explanation, but don't feel like that's it. Still, will attempt to remember to take morning HR.

But I'm not really upset, that's just sort of reflection/puzzlement on the state of things. The race was still fun, an extended group of noonrunners showed up- Sanjay, Sergio, Alejandro, Barry, Don, John B., Rob H., Aaron, and Alex, who totally counts as she's showed up a time or two =). I ran mostly just behind Sanjay and Alejandro, then Alejandro made a move on the steep uphill and we kinda spread out from there.

Burritos afterwards with the noonrunning group, it was free supersize night, so we all got enough food, for sure... Glad to get to say bye to the group, they've been really great running buddies!

Running 9:59 intensity: (3:59 @1) + (4:48 @2) + (1:12 @3) 1.05 mi (9:31 / mi) +36m 8:36 / mi
ahr:140 max:163

Crosstrainer 45:04 intensity: (5:36 @1) + (39:28 @2) 4.81 mi (9:22 / mi)
ahr:135 max:145

And back at the elliptical for an ankle-easy day! Finally, finally had 1) my iPod present, 2) iPod charged, 3) headphones, so I listened to a Freakonomics podcast on the actual increased efficiency (at a Chinese call center) for those working from home (!), a Moth podcast about an guy who ended up participating in a bullfight due to a joke of Ernest Hemingway (also !).

And then two TED talks, which were less fascinating, the first by composer/instrument builder/creataesthe Mark Appelbaum, which just meh, and the second on cool stuff about brining useful minimal tech stuff to rural locations, just not that inspiringly related.

Cycling 5:45 intensity: (6 @0) + (4:32 @1) + (1:07 @2)
ahr:122 max:148

Home! Which oh my gosh is not home that much longer!

Strength 1:43 intensity: (1:38 @0) + (5 @1)
ahr:82 max:91

Hammies, but only 1 round, because time for last (eep!) Gang of 5 dinner, eaten out at Fresh Side. Noisy at first (not even our fault), but fantastic as always, will so miss our crew!
