XC skiing 6:34 intensity: (1:24 @1) + (5:10 @2) 0.0 mi
ahr:138 max:153

Unsucessful putter out Sugar Rd. @ Trapps looking for Dan and Cliff.

XC skiing 45:45 intensity: (6:41 @1) + (21:14 @2) + (17:50 @3) 4.77 mi (9:35 / mi)
ahr:145 max:163

Found them! Bit of coaching, got Cliff to pick up V1 and not alternate rythym. Then up Owl's Howl and down Oslo, up Bobcat to Hare Line and cabin where amazingly, we all basically arrived at the same time? Perfect!

XC skiing 19:29 intensity: (7:24 @1) + (11:30 @2) + (35 @3) 3.29 mi (5:55 / mi)
ahr:134 max:156

Down!

XC skiing 53:54 intensity: (19:15 @1) + (26:20 @2) + (8:19 @3) 6.12 mi (8:48 / mi)
ahr:138 max:164

Race loop with map holder. Jeez louise, still feeling out of practice with the thing. Read one ski-o map, one normal-o map. Nice to remember that although it's sad ski season is ending, o-season is right around the corner, less depressing to witness the melting snow that way.

Hamstring exercises- 10, 8, 8, still wicked hard. Maybe should have done them more in the past week...

XC skiing 13:41 intensity: (11:29 @1) + (2:12 @2) 1.43 mi (9:34 / mi) +25m 9:05 / mi
ahr:116 max:141

Skiing the airport loop with Ross and Sam, trying to help them with some ski tips. Snow a bit hard to ski in, I'd call it squidgy...

XC skiing 8:45 intensity: (33 @0) + (9 @1) + (23 @2) + (1:29 @3) + (6:11 @4) 1.56 mi (5:36 / mi) +28m 5:19 / mi
ahr:161 max:175

Woo! Paintball biathlon!!! =) Apparently raced more than Alex expected. Ah well, it was a 'race'. Just with shooting a paintball gun at the end. Hah. They gave us a very basic run down before. I attempted to use the sight, but then you're breathing hard and it just keeps moving up and down. I always knew it would be hard, but even more in awe of biathlete folk now.

XC skiing 49:35 intensity: (13:37 @1) + (33:05 @2) + (2:53 @3) 6.44 mi (7:42 / mi) +107m 7:19 / mi
ahr:136 max:159

Theoretically double pole intervals, while reading map with Alex. But HR kinda shows how hard I took them... whoops. Two things were going on. My poles kept sinking about 6" into the trail, particularly if I tried to go hard. Now that's actually perfect training for ski-o, cause that's also likely to be happening to me actually at ski-woc.... great. Other thing was attempting to read a map from the holder. Just haven't practiced this enough and had to go real slow to read it. Argh.
2 PM

XC skiing 1:16:15 intensity: (11:48 @1) + (35:37 @2) + (14:39 @3) + (14:11 @4) 11.33 mi (6:44 / mi) +273m 6:16 / mi
ahr:148 max:175

Afternoon skate ski at Ole's with some more successful intervals. Ran into the Giovanni-Katia-Ross-Sam-Eric crowd out at the 4's and skied with them a smidgen. Also went around the race loop twice, in such better condition than almost any other time I've skied it. Awesome times!

Running 43:19 intensity: (21 @1) + (30:27 @2) + (12:02 @3) + (29 @4) 5.12 mi (8:28 / mi) +82m 8:04 / mi
ahr:150 max:166

Was planning to run at lunch, but got invited to lunch out with boss to faculty club. Rough life. Saw Phil there. =)

So snuck in the run right before colloquium. Just drizzly, not too miserable. Felt fine, not pushing at all, still getting the body used to running. Water over the Puffers dam still cool-looking, but way down from 3 days ago.

ahr:143 max:159

Orienteering 22:05 intensity: (5 @0) + (24 @1) + (5:50 @2) + (11:19 @3) + (4:27 @4) 2.34 mi (9:26 / mi) +62m 8:43 / mi
ahr:157 max:171 13c

Woo! Orienteering! Awesome! A course Alex set on the campus map, hardest bit definitely in the woods, the trails were mostly invisible and there isn't much else mapped. Not sure I found the right trail bend for #3, but definitely did get the knolls for 4 and 5.

Other than that, pretty normal campus like orienteering, just a bit more snow in the way here and there, but only once or twice did it force me to stay on trails, I'd say.

Almost caught Dan at the end (he had a heads start) but not quite! Also psyched the hammie didn't complain at slightly faster speed here and there.

ahr:150 max:195

Lonely, no other noon runners could make it out! Road Puffers loop, but I think I messed up the end, adding a bit. The water heading over the dam at the end of Puffers was amazing, torrents and torrents, really impressive, some lady was taking pictures or movie with her smartphone when I went by.

Felt ok running, no hammie complaints, no knee complaints, will still ease into running, ie. every other day to start.

Ah! And I'm going to help some PhD student with her physiology study for her thesis. Something about efficiencies of heel vs. forefoot strikers, I'm latter. Had to go in today just to have her check my stride.

Hmph. And HRM is lying, no way I reached 195 early on in this run...
