Harlow Woods - NOC event - Pine plantation forest, undergrowth is pretty long already, which will make the British Champs next weekend interesting!

Trail Run 48:17 [4]
shoes: Asics 2130

Cressbrook Craw Fell race - calves did not want to work and I wore flat trainers as Itought it would be bone dry as it turns out it lashed down. So held back and just pushed for the last ascent. Free pint after in the pub when you hand in your number and £4 all you can eat buffet - worth the tri for that alone, but the route is good too!

IOC Relay - Glendoo Ridge West, Wicklow - After a poor race on the middle day, I was selected for Corko's second team or as Jim put it "the drunken rejects" after the beering the night before the race. Landed on my feet though with that selection, as Jonny K had a storming run to come in just ~20s down on the CNOC lead. Jonny handed over to Arnis S who knocked up another good run to overtake CNOC and give me a slender ~30s lead over Colm H. I knew Magic would be starting soon after which added to the spice, plus, I was fairly sure there was no gaffling between us (again!)

Having seen the mass start carnage to the first control through waist deep heather, I decided before setting off that I'ld take the easier running to the juniors first control via a taped route, tougher nav. but paid off as I nailed 1 at a good pace and felt any pressure I had lifted. Number 2 I was off line and climbed too high, realised this and turned back down the hill to see Colm going into the control. He stayed ahead until 5, then I took a more direct line to 6 and got ahead and managed to maintain the lead to the finish. I had some hesitations in the last loop after the spectator, but was delighted to hear from Jonny on the run in that we weren't passed.

Another great Irish relay and glad to be on the winning team this year! Roll on next year, we may even get gaffling!
