Terrain (Trail) 2:45:00 [2] ***
shoes: MT690 old

Bighearted. Started slow and pretty much stayed that way but, after the first couple miles, I did have a real, albeit short, stride.

Running (Road) 30:00 [2]
shoes: MT690 old

Pre-dawn pre run.
8 AM

Running (Road) 30:00 [2]
shoes: Vaporfly

Warmup.

Running race (Road) 1:23:31 [5] 13.11 mi (6:22 / mi)
shoes: Vaporfly

Frostbite Half. Wowsers. No idea where that came from. AG win and PR (and an unofficial 10-mile PR of 63:47 along the way). I guess I'll have to write a race report.

Terrain (Mix) 1:00:00 [2] **
shoes: Lone Peak 3..0 Blue

Post run around Forest Park including Kennedy Woods.
6 PM

Running race (Road) 1:03:47 [0] 10.0 mi (6:23 / mi)

Unofficial 10-mile PR in the first 10 miles of the Half. Recording as intensity zero to avoid double-counting the time.

Running (Road) 30:00 [2]
(rest day) shoes: MT690 old

In to work via bus. My home thermometer said 8F and the weather agencies don't seem to think that's an outlier.

weight:170lbs (rest day) shoes: Zante 3

Home from work via bus/powerline.

Running (Track) 1:00:00 [4]
shoes: Zoom Fly

3x1@6:30 on the mill at UMSL. Dial-in for Saturday. Pace seems just a bit hot for a Half; will probably be a bit slower. Warmup/dn on the indoor track.

Note
(rest day)

Didn't really feel like I needed a rest day, but I am taking the Frostbite Half seriously so, rest day it is.

shoes: Lone Peak 3..0 Blue

2x2T, 5R, 3T at Lost Valley. Again, studded shoes would have been a good thing. There's never a good time for a nasty fall, but six weeks before a marathon is a particularly bad time for one. Therefore, I ran the tempo sections on the fire road (which was also snow on ice, but at least you could see where the bad spots were) and did the warmup/mid recovery/and warmdown on singletrack.
