Terrain (Grass) 35:00 [2] **

New School Barefoot Loop. Pretty stiff.

Terrain (Trail) 2:40:00 [3] ***
shoes: Lone Peak 3.0

3x3T 3:00R at CC Lake plus over and back on the powerline. Quad continues to be send “don’t do anything stupid” signals, but not “you’re doing something stupid.”

Terrain (Mix) 1:35:00 [2] ***
shoes: XTalon 215

Trails at Powder Valley and Emenegger, from Laumeier. It’s literally been years since I’ve run these trails. Too short to justify traveling to them. But, if you’re already right across the highway, they are very pretty trails.

Orienteering race (Park) 37:00 [3] ** 4.3 km (8:36 / km)
spiked:22/shoes: XTalon 215

SLOC long at Laumeier. Map was junk when it was new and it hasn’t Improved with age. The park is great, though, and it was a good time as long as you kept your sense of humor. Seemed like everybody did, including me, which is sayin’ something. 2nd OA.

Note
(rest day)

Eighteen and a half hours of running over the last seven days. That's excessive even for me. Taking the day full off.

In to work super slow paying attention to how the left quad felt. Noticeable, but not particularly painful.

Terrain (Trail) 55:00 [2] ***
shoes: Lone Peak 3.0

Easy running before the race. I won’t call it a warmup because I didn’t do any warmup-y things like striders or surges. Sure was warm, though.

Terrain race (Trail) 33:11 [4] **** 4.25 mi (7:48 / mi) +150m 7:02 / mi
shoes: Lone Peak 3.0

Alpine Shop #2 at Castlewood. Hit the ups pretty hard since those don’t hurt the quads. Ran the rest at tempo. Further back than last week, but not as big a difference as I would have expected. The tough course and excessive dew point definitely played to my strengths.

Update: 18OA, 2nd 50+. I guess I'll list it as a race since it was an AG placing and really not that much off. Comparing the top 25 from #1 and #2, there were 15 runners other than me in both sets. Relative to that group, I was 18s/mi slower than last week, which was better than I was intending. As of Friday morning, it appears no further damage done to the quad.

Running (Road) 3:00:00 [3]
shoes: Zante 3

6M 1T 6M on the way home from work.

I may have been too quick in assuming I had got off free from CFA. Definite pain on the left quad today that got pretty bad after the tempo mile but then didn’t get any worse, so I finished the M-pace stuff. Once off the gas it really started crabbing and the final three miles home took quite some time. Doesn’t feel like a serious injury, but it is certainly enough to relegate tomorrow’s race a fun run and probably takes any real quality work out of the weekend as well.

In to work. A Q-workout tomorrow evening doesn't seem completely infeasible.

Home from work. Stride was short, but quick and bouncy. While I certainly don’t recommend a 6-hour run during a marathon cycle, it appears I got away with it.
