LPT on the Greenrock. Fairly warm. Used poles when walking. No big problems, but I'm terribly clumsy as my trail running has been almost exclusively on the smooth singletrack of CC Lake.

FFRC. Everyone wanted to go slow today. That was fine with me.

By STL In July standards, it's downright chilly. However, 90 and sunny does bring on some adaptation. For lack of a better destination, I ran over to the Elks and back since Kate was there with some friends.

In to work.

Update on the knee: I'm pretty sure the knee is not actually the problem. I don't think I'd be running to and from work if it was. Plus, it feels better with activity, which is the opposite you'd expect for an injury to connective tissue or some sort of bursitis. My best guess is that I strained something in the quad during the last 400 on Tuesday and it's pulling things a bit funny, causing pain at the attachment point rather than the injury. If so, a few easy days should clear it up. If it is something serious, a few easy days should bring that to light. So, a few easy days it is. (Note easy does not imply short - I don't see any reason not to go ahead with my long run this weekend; I was going to walk the hills anyway). Since it's not (yet) impacting my training, no injury flag.

Work to the powerline.

Terrain (Grass) 35:00 [2] **

Then popped off my shoes the rest of the way to see if the rain had softened up the powerline. Cue Ron Howard: "It hadn't."

Home from work. Cut the planned long run in half due to the knee. Felt better at the end than the start, so hopefully it is just a minor soft-tissue problem. A few easy days should help bring that to light.

Cycling (Road) 40:00 [2]
shoes: Bike: Raleigh RXS (SS/CX)

In to work. Downright frosty, as in my hands were hurting from the cold. Only 8 weeks to Leadville - if summer doesn't show up in earnest real soon, I might be in a bit of trouble.
6 PM

Running (Track) 1:20:00 [3]
shoes: FastTwitch 7

FFTT 400@80, 800@2:50, 1200@4:30, 1200@4:30, 800@2:50, 400@80. Slightly longer recovery. Once again, times much better than expected and I'm quite sure the effort was right on these.

Unfortunately, right after my warmdown, something went very wrong with my left knee. Not sure how serious it is; pain was very sharp, but nothing is structurally wrong. Possibly a pull. More likely an injury to a tendon. I was able to jog it off, but it bugged me again later in the evening.
