Warmup. Start was delayed a few minutes while they sorted out some changes in the course. I was happy to have the extra time to jog because it was frosty.

Bubba XC at Creve Coeur Lake Park. Much tougher course than the last one. More hills and more obstacles. They had the overpass out today (about 2.5m high - you run up steps one side, then down a really steep ramp on the other; the course loops around to go back underneath it). Also a better field this round. Therefore, I ran a lot harder, but I still don't give it a 5 because I was alone in the last half mile, so I didn't have to kick. Fifth overall, 1st M40.

Then I blasted out to Meramec (1:15) for the SLOC meet. With David off at USARA Nats, my dead legs from the morning were less of a liability. Granted, Meramec isn't exactly the toughest navigation going, but my nav was really on today. Two of my route choices could have been better, but execution was as good as I've done, ever. 1st on Red.

You know it's been a bad stretch for injuries when, upon telling your 5-year-old that you're going to a race, her first response is, "Maybe you shouldn't hurt yourself this time." Got through both races OK, but my pennance for showing up late for the O-meet was to pick up controls. Had to push a bit harder than usual since we were running out of daylight. Stepped in a hole and went down pretty hard, hitting my left knees on a rock. It's a bit swollen, but it will be fine. As for the existing injuries, the rib is basically better (although it's technically not healed for two more weeks), the shoulder is fully usable, but it does hurt.
