SLOC score O@ Brommelsleik(1:6500). Somewhat sloppy. 3rd overall.

Then hammered the crap out of the MTBO course (on foot, since my knee doesn’t do the pedaling thing anymore). Beat all the bikes by 8 minutes.

Halfhearted plus a detour to the store at the end of the run. Back in STL, but still super frosty.

In Champaign. Roads still covered (and probably will be for a while as it’s only 7 degrees).

Easy jog round Champaign after the drive. On roads, but claiming terrain credit since they were covered with ice. Leg isn’t 100%, but it’s not stopping me from training so I’m turning the injury flag off.

2xQueens Knight Loop. Would have preferred a more technical setting than Queeny, but another fall would be disastrous at this point. While the leg didn't really bother me much, I'm leaving the flag on until I know that this workout didn't bother it.

Powerline out & back. Leg felt better than yesterday. Not sure if that's improvement or simply from the powerline being very soft with the fresh snow on top of rain.

Another go at running the Old School Loop. I'd call it actual running (as opposed to last Sunday's fast limping), but the leg still nowhere near healthy.

Running (Road) 35:00 [1]
weight:173lbs (injured) (rest day) shoes: Excite 4

Walked to the store and back. Still holding off on the running. Doing so on the week that everybody brings food into the office has had the expected effect on the G.

Running (Road) 1:00:00 [1]

Shin/ankle is still not ready, so I settled for walking from work to dinner and back before another late night.

Tuesday Dec 19, 2017 #

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Stairs not quite so bad today. Might try a short run tomorrow morning.

Monday Dec 18, 2017 #

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Walking is OK. Steps not so much, though I can do them.

Old School Loop to see if running was a happening thing. It’s not. Right leg below the knee is pretty nonfunctional. Almost felt like running in a walking cast (but not quite that bad). Hopefully, just a few days off. Could be longer.

Greenrock with the Slugs. Bad fall at 22 miles mashed my knee and shin to the point that running was very awkward. I decided to take the short way back to Fox Creek so it wasn't the full 50K. Damage appears to be superficial, though on the very serious side of superficial. It will probably mess up my running for the better part of a week.

Other than that, it was a great run with great friends.

Change of Heart@70:40.

Yesterday’s run had me worried that my fitness might be horribly off. As I haven’t done a quality workout in over a month, I didn’t have much to go on. I’m sure that anxiety had me running harder than M-pace so the time is a bit misleading, but probably not by much. I could have gone at least another half hour at that speed. Bottom line is that my fitness is fine, so I’m going back to base training until Rocky.

Chubb/Chinkapin from the horse lot. Wasn’t pushing particularly hard, but it’s still a lot slower than I’d like.

In to work with a few little detours through parks. Frostiness has arrived, but I overreacted and put on too many layers. Had to peel some off after just a few minutes.

Bighearted (sort of). Started off with the idea of running to Queeny for Big Shark’s customer appreciation day (I don’t ride anymore, but I bought Yaya a pretty nice bike last summer, so I’m still a customer). Legs felt soft from the get go, so I settled for Bird on a Wire at a really easy pace. By the time I got to the lake, everything felt fine, so I switched to the Wholehearted route to turn it back into the long run. That made it either Wholehearted plus the long way over or Bighearted with the long way over in exchange for the lake. I choose to call it the latter and I’m sure nobody else cares.

Running (Road) 20:00 [2]

In to work. Much colder than last evening; I was way underdressed in just a long T and shorts so I took the bus most of the way.
2 PM

Gym (Weights) 20:00 [5]

2 sets heavy, upper only.

Running (Road) 55:00 [2]

St. Vincent the Goode. Might modify this route a bit now that the construction around the B-school is done.
