Four School Loop. Didn't go barefoot because it was right at freezing. Should have; the ground was thawed. Legs are every bit as trashed as I thought they would be.

SLOC Red at Babler (1:15). Super physical course made even more so by the fact that I messed up the first few controls and decided to take really safe routes the rest of the way. There are plenty of those at Babler so, with nav reduced to Orange-level difficulty, it was pretty much Pere Marquette level effort for the last hour. Good enough for the win, so I have to list it as a "Race". Legs will be trashed for several days, which is probably a good thing.

Two School Loop. Wore the Orocs as a defense against the odd patch of ice on what little pavement I'd hit. Didn't need them; everything has thawed (with the result that the powerline was very slow going).

Listed Saturday as "5" because that's the way I note that a workout requires extended recover. While it's true that I need a few days off, it feels like I'll bounce back pretty quick from this. Of course, since I'm also in the final five weeks before the Qualifying Exam, I don't expect to get much running in anytime soon.

Little Woods Ultra. Super frosty at start; ran 12 laps (each lap starts on the hour and is a bit over 4 miles) at which point my back started sending warning signs that it had had enough of keeping me upright on an icy trail. Travis Redden was the only other runner still going, so I got second. Ran most of the first 8 laps with Bill. Pacing was good; run-walk combo had me in between 50 and 55 minutes on each lap. Definitely a fun day and, while I would have liked to have gone further (legs were still fine and I was in no danger of missing the time cutoff), I didn't really want to turn it into an epic test of will with someone as determined as Travis.

Yes, another day off! At least I my brand new pair of shoes all day, so now they've got maybe a mile of breaking in before tomorrw. Definitely taking this one seriously.

FFRC NYD plus an extra half hour beforehand to make sure it was a legit long run. Nobody else wanted to do the full loop, so I ran a lot of it on my own. Trail was getting pretty greasy by the end with the sun thawing everything. Glad I went with the Orocs; grip wasn't a problem.
