Something of an epic ride home, stringing together singletrack at Bangert (via Page/Katy), then the little trail along the river to the 370 bridge, Riverwoods, then the crappy part on Earth City Expressway to CCL. Up the fire road for a loop around the upper trails, then back down to the lake and home on the powerline.

Generally a good route, but what would really be awesome would be to figure out how to get the Earth City part out of there. Might look for some illegal routes under 70 into Riverport.

Lower & upper trails at CCL. On the gas most of the time. Came back on the powerline figuring it's been dry enough that it should be OK. It was, though the giant tracks from the heavy equipment bears little resemblance to the quaint grass path that was there six months ago. The sewer project does not seem any closer to being finished (nor is it obvious what is even being attempted). I seem to recall that nature re-asserted itself fairly quickly after the last time they trashed this path, so I'm not too worried about it.

Powerline & lower CC Lake, plus over the bridge to the Katy. Interestingly, I don't have any knee pain from the MTB. I would have expected to be worse since the seat is lower and the knee seems to be complaining about too much flexion. Maybe I should drop the seat on the cross bike and see if that helps.

As much as I hate workout machines, I have to concede that these have been the best workouts I've done since last summer. Anything is better than the boredom of just crunching out time on them. Quality work is a distraction if nothing else.

Pretty frosty out, but at least the rain (and subsequent sleet) held off long enough to get some riding in. Knee is not happy with the change of activities but, that's a known problem. Better to deal with that than risk making the unknown worse. Might get an x-ray this week. Or, maybe I'll just stay off it for another 5 weeks. Between cycling and the elliptical, I can probably get through that without losing much more fitness (especially since I'm not very fit right now).
