MO Senior Games 5K (running). As I was just coming back from layoff and I had another race 3 hours later, I stuck to my strategy of running just fast enough to be third, which qualifies me for nats next year. Ended up second M50 because the second place overall was older.

Already 90F, so I wasn't needing to be warm, but I didn't want to stiffen up either, so I soft pedaled for a while, including riding the course and then did a few firm efforts right near the end to get my HR up for the start.

MO Senior Olympics 5K (cycling). Well, that's what it was advertised as, anyway. About 2 miles in I passed a couple folks taking times on the side of the road. Figured that was a split and didn't pay it any mind. Then I really got on the gear for the last 1500m only to find nobody at the finish (which was a very clearly marked line with 5K written above it). Turns out they modified the course and didn't tell anybody, which pretty much invalidated the results since all the good riders were holding back knowing the final 800m was uphill. Happy with the time for 5K (from my own watch, obviously). No idea what my official time or finish was because I was too pissed to stick around for results.

Soft pedaled back to the start (it was a 1-way course), put the bike in the car, and got the hell out of there before I said a bunch of unkind things I'd regret later.
As of this writing, I'm glad I did that. I was really just doing the bike for kicks, so there was no reason to be an ass about it. Back in STL, we had our annual church music ministry party, which was great fun and would have been less so if I thought I had been a poor example of my faith earlier in the day.
