Orienteering (Woods) 1:27:02 [2] 6.7 km (12:59 / km) +175m 11:29 / km
spiked:10/10c

SLOC meet at Cuivre River (1:15). I've still got the boot on so all I could do was walk the Green course. The aircast has pretty lousy traction in the woods, but fortunately the course didn't have any really steep stuff. Dave Frei set courses and did a nice job - I wish I'd been able to run. Anyway, it was nice to do something again after being off for 2 weeks.

FWIW, I won Green. ST=363/431.

Note

Had my foot x-rayed today. Overt (as in snapped in two) fracture of the third metatarsal. Probably the result of a stress fracture from ealier last week (the foot was sore, but I could run on it) that just let go. Anyway, no running for 6 weeks.

Running (Road) 15:00 [2]

What pases for a warmup at River 2 River. You're never out of the van for more than 10 minutes, so you have to split your warmup over several exchanges.

Running (Road) 26:23 [5] 3.6 mi (7:20 / mi) +120m 6:38 / mi

River 2 River Relay leg 8. This year's team for the 80-mile race is Rob Wagnon, Yvonne Deyo, Rudy Schwartz, Joe Miller, Ken DeBeer, Gary Thompson, Jim Stroup, and me.

Running (Road) 6:55 [5] 1.0 mi (6:55 / mi) +20m 6:31 / mi

River 2 River Relay leg 16 (first mile). Broke my foot shortly after passing the mile 1 split.

Running (Road) 27:37 [3] 3.1 mi (8:55 / mi) +30m 8:39 / mi

Pretty much a worst case scenario - I broke the foot on the longest leg of the relay just after the van had passed so I had to run it in as best I could. Gary ran my final leg and the team did manage to finish under 10 hours (9:56:55).

Tae Kwon Do (Technique) 1:05:00 [3]

Was late to class due to another long day at work. Worked combinations and started learning my next form.

Tae Kwon Do (Cardio) 55:00 [4]

Lot of arm work.

Tae Kwon Do (Technique) 1:30:00 [2]

Line kicks. Moderate effort since some of the moves were new.

Tae Kwon Do (Cardio) 1:00:00 [3]

Mostly punching. Should have been intensity 4, but I felt kinda out of it.

Orienteering (Woods) 1:02:00 [3]

Checking my course for the Castlewood (1:15) meet.

Running (Trail) 10:00 [2]

Warmup.

Orienteering (Woods) 1:58:35 [4] 14.8 km (8:01 / km) +340m 7:11 / km
spiked:26/30c

SLOC 2-hour at S-F (1:15). Ran really well for first 10K (covered in under 75 minutes), then faded a bit. Made some dumb mistakes near the finish, but gave away less than 5 minutes total on errors. Finished first ahead of Gary Thompson and Ken DeBeer. ST=353/404.

Tae Kwon Do (Technique) 40:00 [4]

Zipped back to St. Louis for my Yellow Belt test. Fairly intense, as we went through all the techniques without a break. Official results will be announced next week, but I'm pretty sure I'll be promoted.

Tae Kwon Do (Technique) 1:45:00 [3]

Practice test. Includes warmup.

Tae Kwon Do (Cardio) 1:00:00 [3]

Took it a bit easy.

Orienteering (Woods) 37:52 [5] 5.0 km (7:34 / km) +175m 6:27 / km
spiked:11/12c

Rockwoods Test Loop (1:15). Had to go without a warmup to get done before dark so my time was a bit slow. Pushed hard for the second half. ST=323/374.
