running 1:00:00 [2]

I was getting ready to go for a run and Mary had already left for Kill Creek when my phone buzzed. I saw that the news had decided that Biden-Harris won. That was expected for a day or two, but it was still nice to see in the headlines. I wonder if Mary got the news before her run?

I headed out to Clinton State Park and spent some time on the trails. I carried the map and looked at it a lot. I will need to make one change to a trail that was damaged in last year's flooding.

Warmer than I'd like. Sunny, too.

I have an idea that it might be possible to use Landsat and/or Sentinel images to spot bush honeysuckle. I think it would be easiest with images from right about now - most of the tree leaves are down, but the honeysuckle still has leaves.

I also learned that today is National Bison Day:

I shuffled around on West Campus as the sun set. Warm today. I saw some nice fall colors.

Note

After 2 days with NO beans, we had beans with dinner tonight.

I took another day off from exercising. I did work up a little bit of a sweat doing some yard work and filling up a cart for tomorrow's pick up.

Hard to concentrate at work today. Kept checking election news. I also learned that a friend's mom died of Covid-19 a couple of days ago. That sucks.

MTB cycling 50:00 [1]

Warm out and with the time change not much daylight after work. If I quit work right on time, I should be able to bike before it got dark. So I quit work 5 minutes early and got out the door.

I rolled around a bit. It felt good. Strange how warm it is today.

A day off = no exercise (except for a couple of walks) and no beans.

running 1:05:00 [2]

Running with a map on the trails plus a bit off trail at Rockhaven. This was the first time of the season I ran on the south shore trails.

The flood damage is disappointing. Areas that were underwater are dense with awful vegetation and fallen trees. Trails that were underwater are damaged or gone. The lower trail (orange blazes) is disappearing even where it wasn't underwater. Some of the connecting trails are also disappearing. I spotted some significant erosion along the shore lines. My current thinking is wait for the 2021 lidar and then remap the south shore. For this winter, we can just use the current map but avoid the areas that were flooded.

Saw a pileated woodpecker.
