MTB cycling 2:00:00 [1]

MTB on the roads, levee and river trail. On the river trail I looked at the MTBO map quite a bit - keeping track of what was coming up. That was fun and made the trail feel a bit different.

We used the map for our MTBO series a few years ago. Maybe I should set up a little series again. Or maybe just set up an UsynligO course.

The trail was quiet. I saw a few runners and hikers.

It was windy - gusts above 40 mph. I had a head wind coming home. I was slowly making my way up Mississippi Street when a guy on an ebike passed me.

running 25:00 [2]

I went out on West Campus and shuffled around a little bit.

Fritz is planning a solo marathon in the Flint Hills soon. He did that last year. Maybe I should think about that for next year.

Note

Douglas County will get new lidar this winter/next spring. The current data are from 2015. A 2021 update will be nice. If I remember right, it will take until mid/late summer 2021 before any of the data might be available. I'll have to remember to check on it.

MTB cycling 45:00 [1]

A little MTB ride on the roads. Fun.

I was going to make linguini for dinner...but, no tomatos for the sauce. I pivoted and made something with black beans.

running 40:00 [2]

I shuffled around for a bit on West Campus. It felt like longer than 40 minutes.

For anyone wondering about the dead possum...there are still a few remnants if you look for them.

Note

I played around with the lidR package a bit today. It is kind of fun to play with.

My first experiment was to test mapping individual trees on the Robinson Gym map. It worked, sort of. I ended up mapping a bunch of things that weren't trees as trees. Like individual cars in the parking lot showed up as trees. It did a good job of mapping all of the trees, too.

Black bean burgers for dinner. Yummy.

MTB cycling 2:00:00 [1]

I woke up early for a Sunday and watched the SVT coverage of the Swedish sprint relay champs. That was the perfect warm up for a MTB ride.

I biked on roads, the levee and single track.

There's a sweet spot on Sunday mornings for the river trail. Runners are out early. MTB riders show up mid/late morning. I was a little early for the quiet sweet spot. Most of the runners were off the trail (and hanging out in the parking lot), but there were still a few on the trails. 15-20 minutes later would have been perfect.

Biking was fun and I felt ok. My legs got tired going up the hill to campus on the way home.
