Note

Cool video from the 1963 Swedish Champs. If you can't understand the Swedish it is still interesting to see the runners in the terrain. If you can understand Swedish, the discussion of the map (first time with 1:25K) is interesting:

Shuffling around.

I shuffled through two courses that I'd drawn on the Lawrence 1:10000 map. Fun and felt like a nice change from just shuffling with the map in hand.

More people in town. More people wandering campus. More people walking dogs on campus.

Reasonably pleasant out there with the dew point in the low 60s.

I got out and moved around for a bit. That was good.

I was sound asleep during the virtual Defend Lawrence run.

I rolled around on the pavement. I went through campus. Many students are back in town. Many of the people walking around on campus were keeping distance and wearing masks. I rolled by a frat house and the kids out front we loud and obnoxious, but seemed to be keeping their distance. It'll be interesting to see the situation in another month or so.

Jogging on West Campus. Nice out. Felt so so.

On the way back I spotted Mary out on her bike. She was doing the MTBO course from Monday. https://www.instagram.com/p/CEFusW5HPDF/?utm_sourc...

Salad with some beans in it for dinner.

Mary designed a MTBO practice on West Campus using the rule that you must stay on pavement. That makes the route choices more interesting.

We invited a few locals to bike the course and then hang out in the back yard for some social distance socializing. One person backed out due to being exposed to some Covid-19 positive people. That was appreciated.

The course was fun. We use the sprint map. It might be worth a couple of hours to convert it to MTBO standard. That would make it easier to use. Right now it is hard to see the sidewalks when you ride.

To/from the start/finish plus a bit of rolling around while waiting for Fritz to finish the course.

Slow and easy shuffling around on campus with my map. Just like yesterday, but I went further and the weather was a good bit cooler and more comfortable.

We've been watching the Eco Challenge on TV. Fletcher showed up a few times in episode 3 and that was fun to see. His team (Able Abel or something like that) is getting a good bit of TV time. The team is a father and his two college age daughters...oh yeah, and Fletcher. Fletcher isn't the focus of the TV editors, but it is fun to see him.

When they show teams talking about being good navigators or having navigation as a strength, I always wonder how good they really are. I've no idea.
