MTB cycling 25:00 [1]

A bit of extra riding.

I did an MTBO course Mary designed on West Campus (with the rule that you must stay on pavement). Fun.

Construction taking place at the Lied Center parking lot made things a little more interesting. I had to watch out for some big holes.

Nice conditions.

Note

Mowed the lawn. My left leg seems normal.

Also, beans for dinner tonight.

MTB cycling 45:00 [1]

Fueled by pasta and beans for lunch. I rolled around in the rain. It was fun. The temp was 75F and a steady, but light, rain fell. It felt wonderful.

Also, I mailed my ballot for the August primary today.

Note

I'm being super careful about the left leg that I tweaked Monday. Or maybe just lazy about exercising in the humidity?

Weather permitting I may bike a little tomorrow. My current intent is to not run again until Sunday.

In odd news...in the last four days I've only eaten beans one day.

running 15:00 [1]

Mix of jogging and walking to "warm up." The temp was 84 with dewpoint of 73 and the sun was out.

running race 28:31 [4]

NoLaw 5K.

I was moving along steadily at about the same pace as last month. I carried water and squirted a bit on myself every few minutes. The water felt good.

The first 2 miles is in the sun. I could see lots of clouds, but none of them got between me and the sun.

After about 20 minutes, I started feeling hot. I walked for a minute. Near the very end, I slightly tweaked my left leg. Rather than run the last few hundred meters, I did a little bit of a slow jog and then just walked it in.

I'd expected a few degrees cooler and a lower dewpoint. I'd also expected to feel better running. Oh well.

running 1:05:00 [2]

I got out the door a little later than ideal. Felt slow and hot and tired.

I saw MeanGene early on. He was calibrating his bike for measuring a running course. There's a precisely measured stretch of the bike path along Clinton Parkway for calibrating measurements.

I shuffled around on Daisy Hill looking at things to tweak/add on my rough Lawrence map. It is an interesting exercise to map an area at 1:10,000 that really should be a sprint map. The old Daisy Hill sprint map was good, but with all of the construction, it isn't useful. Maybe when we get some newer lidar, it'll be a good project to remap the area. In fact, the entire campus could use a re-mapping.
